E-Cube number 559, Daily Easy English Expression number 559. I love this expression. We were just talking about this in our community. Maggie from China, she's visiting the United States right now, and she learned a similar expression.
And it's fantastic. So this is an excellent expression talking about food. Enjoy the podcast. Let's go back in time. Today's expression is really good.
I like this expression. Farm to fork. Farm to fork. F A R M farm to T O fork F O R K. And there's a hyphen between the words farm dash to dash fork. Okay.
If something is farm to fork, that means the food, whether it's meat or Or a vegetable or a fruit was produced on a local farm, a farm that's close by and immediately goes to the restaurant or your kitchen.
So if you buy your vegetables, your fruit, your meat at a farmer's market, you are buying farm to fork. But nowadays in America, many restaurants are also farm to fork.
And why do we have farm to fork? I'll tell you after we listen to the dialogue. What are your grocery bills? A little high, about $300. Wow, why so much?
Oh, I look for farm-to-fork foods. They're pricier. Farm-to-fork foods are good for a couple of reasons. Number one, they help the local economy. Yes, they are more expensive, but that money goes to the farmer.
So that's good. The farmer is getting paid for the hard work. that he or she does usually farm to fork food is more organic it's cleaner food not always but usually so that's good too also less gas is used less production facilities less people touching the food so it is cleaner it is less processed it is fresher it is newer
These are the reasons people like farm to fork. You get to know your farmer. You get to see how he or she farms. You get to see how clean the food is.
Less gas, less processing in the food. It might be organic. It might be a little bit more expensive, but it is absolutely fresh. Farm to fork is good.
But the problem is, it is a bit expensive. So my hope... When I move, I hope they have a community garden. And if they have a community garden, maybe I'll make my own garden and grow some of my own vegetables.
The idea of farm to fork is great. Do you support farm to fork? Do you have a garden growing your own vegetables or fruits? Do you have any animals that you harvest?
Yeah, leave a message somewhere. Farm to fork, it's a great expression. Whether you're a meat eater, a vegetarian, or a fruitarian, farm to fork is good stuff. Check out the dialogue a couple more times.
