Easy English Expression Rehashed Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions Come on, let's master English Hello everybody, Coach Shane here. How are you doing today? How's your October going?
E-Cube number 558. Ooh, a fancy word. Are you one of these? I'm not. I tried to be, I was for a while, but no, I'm a country boy. But maybe you are this.
E-Cube 558. Check it out. Let's go back in time. Today's expression is one word. It is urbanite. Urbanite. Are you an urbanite? I'm not an urbanite. I have no problem.
I know many people are urbanites. Most people are probably urbanites, but I'm not. I like the country. Ooh, I gave you the answer. Urbanite. Spelling.
U-R-B-A-N-I-T-E. An urbanite is a person who loves the city, the culture of the city, the restaurants, the concerts, the museums, the bars, the cultural events, the sporting events, the shopping, the dressing up and blah, blah, blah, all the lights.
If you are that person, if you like that stuff, you are an urbanite. You love the city life. And I know most people, it seems, love the city life. I don't know.
When I was younger, I definitely did because I grew up in the country. I hated the country. I wanted to go to the city. But now that I'm a little bit older, I realize I am no longer an urbanite.
I believe in the country. Check out the dialogue. Oh, let's go to La Grange tonight. The restaurant? No thanks. Why not? It sounds great. It's for urbanites.
Yeah, in America, if you hear a restaurant's name is La Grange, anything French sounding or even Italian sounding, you know it's probably an expensive restaurant and it's probably perfect for urbanites. Not necessarily, but generally.
Yeah. uh so once again i'm getting older and i do prefer the country but when i was young absolutely i was an urbanite i love this city the city life the city lights i love the restaurants and the shopping and everything the museums and the concerts and the bars everything i loved it but i'm a little bit older and a little bit wiser
And a little bit more tired. And I love the country now. So yeah, as you know, many of you know, right now I live in Las Vegas. Las Vegas is the perfect town for urbanites.
And I'm moving to Chicago. And Chicago is also an excellent town for urbanites. But I'll be outside of the city. So hopefully it will be quiet. Are you an urbanite?
What's the opposite of an urbanite? A country person. There is no country night or anything like that. We just say, I love the country. He's an urbanite.
I'm a country boy. A country boy, a country girl. I guess that would be the opposite. All right, everybody. Listen to the dialogue a couple more times.
Oh, let's go to La Grange tonight. The restaurant? No thanks. Why not? It sounds great. It's for Urbanites. Oh, let's go to La Grange tonight. The restaurant?
