Easy English Expression. Rehashed! Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions. Come on, let's master English! Hello, everybody.

Coach Shane here. How is your October going? EQ number 555. 555. Coming at you. Check it out. Let's go back in time. Today's word is interesting. Listen carefully.

Flickering. Flickering. F-L-I-C-K-E-R-I-N-G. Flickering. We use this word to describe a light. Usually only two different types of light. Number one, a candle.

And number two, a light in a classroom or in a big building. Maybe in your house. So a candle that is flickering is flickering. The wind is blowing the candle and the candle is bright and then dark and then bright and then dark and then bright and then dark, dark.

This is a flickering candle. Okay. In a building. If you have a fluorescent light, that's those really long lights. Before those lights die, what do they do?

They're on, they're off, they're on, they're off, they're on, off, on, off, on. They even make a sound. Just like a candle. A candle can actually make that sound.

That is the sound of a flickering light or a flickering candle. It's a great word to use to describe lights, and sometimes you'll see it in poetry, too. And now I think you'll be able to understand. Check out the dialogue.

Do you have a minute? What do you need? The light in my room is flickering. Oh, I'll change it for you. Yep, that happened to me right now. I'm getting ready to move.

I'm moving from the desert... to the cold yeah i am i'm very excited very very happy i'll be moving in just a couple days uh so boy so anyway before i leave this apartment i need to change all the light bulbs so that they're working and i do have a flickering light in my kitchen

So I bought a light yesterday and I changed it. So the light is no longer flickering. And that's good. I feel good that I'm taking care of the house. Do you have any flickering lights?

Do you like the image of a flickering candle? Can you find more examples, maybe online, of the usage of the word flickering? Once again, the spelling, F-L-I-C-K-E-R-I-N-G. Flickering to flicker. It's a great word used especially to describe light.

Light that is on-off, on-off, on-off, like a candle in the wind. And a fluorescent light that is about to die. Check out the dialogue two more times. Do you have a minute?
