Hopefully, you've had a productive week and you're ready to slow down, relax, and enjoy the weekend. Today, we're exploring an expression about getting support from someone when you need a little help. Let's see how this simple phrase can be used naturally in everyday English. And if you want to keep improving your English with us, come join our community at school.com slash LME.

That's S-K-O-O-L dot com slash L-M-E. You'll find more opportunities to practice, learn, and connect with other English learners. See you there. All right. Episode 550.

Enjoy. Let's go back in time. Today's expression is a good one. It is lean on me. Lean on me. There's a song. Lean on me when you're not strong. I'll be your friend.

Someone to care. I don't know what the song is. But anyway, look it up. Lean on me. L-E-A-N-O-N-M-E. Lean on me. It's a great expression and it means...

rely on me. If you are having a problem, if you are feeling weak, if you are worried, if you are sad, if you're angry, if you're disappointed, come to me. Come to me. I'll give you energy.

I'll hold you. I'll be there for you. I'll hold your hand. I'll listen to you. I'll be there for you. When you're not strong, lean on me. It's a great expression.

And the song's really pretty, too. Check out the dialogue. Oh, I'm so nervous. Moving to another city. Well, lean on me. I'm there for you. Oh. I really appreciate it.

Hey, that's what friends are for. That's me. That's my situation. I'll be moving to another city across so many states. And yeah, I'm nervous. I'm scared.

I'll be all alone. Mom and dad are here. I'll be leaving them. I got nobody. I got nobody. Who can I lean on? Can I lean on you? Will you help me? But I wish I seriously and where I'm moving, there's nobody, nobody that I know.

The closest relative is actually not that bad, about four, five hours away. My closest friend from high school is about seven hours away. That's pretty good.

Right now, it's like over 30 hours away. So I'll be getting closer to my home. And that's really nice. But yeah, I have nobody to lean on. So that's why I'm using a moving company.

I'll be leaning on those boys. Those boys are going to be carrying my desks and my books. And yeah, I'll be okay though. Emotionally, I will not need to lean on anyone.

So think about this. When you're sad or depressed or angry about something, who can you lean on? Who can you go to for comfort? Who can you go to that will always be thinking of you?

Who is that person you can lean on? When it comes to English, for my students, my DDM and my PERF students, absolutely, they can lean on me. They can come to me with their questions, their concerns, their worries. I'll do my best to help them.

If I can't, we've got Miguel, Clive, Matt. They can help too. So the whole DDM team, yeah, we're here for you. DDM and PERF, you can lean on us. For the podcast and for my other videos on YouTube, hey, you can always come and lean on the community.

We're here for you. If I can answer your question, I will. But somebody else is always around looking out and is ready to help. I'm serious. Of course, don't bring your homework.
