Here we go. Let's go back in time. Today's expression is to get into a groove. To get into a groove means to be able to start a routine that you can continue to do every day.
or every morning or whenever you want to do it. So for example, studying English. Yeah, that's something that all of you probably want to do. Maybe you want to be very serious about it.
Well, what you need to do is find a time during the day. It might be 6.30 a.m. It might be during breakfast. It might be on the bus or the subway. It might be in the bathroom.
Find five minutes and listen to this podcast. If you do that every day and at that same time, And once again, it doesn't have to be a time. It could be breakfast time or bathroom time or bus time.
If you do that every day and it becomes your habit, then you can say, I finally got into a groove. So the idea of getting into a groove is developing a habit, developing a rhythm to where you do something every day.
Getting into a groove can be really difficult. We all want to start something new, develop a new habit or something like that. But it's not easy. Once we get it, once we start it, the developments, the advancement, we get so smart.
We get so good. If you want to lose weight, you need to get into an exercise groove. If you want to eat healthy, you need to get into a cooking groove. If you want to study English, you need to get into an English studying groove.
Now, why do we say groove? G-R-O-O-V-E. Why groove? I'll explain that after you check out the dialogue. Did you ride this morning? Oh, no. I got up late.
Come on. You need to exercise. I know. I need to get into a groove. Yeah, it's not easy. It's really important to do your best, though. And then so many people, you know, Monday through Friday or whatever your work days are, you work really hard.
And then Saturday, Sunday, you want to sleep. You want to relax. You want to rest. And you know what? I understand that it's what I did. Seriously, of course.
But it's actually, it doesn't help you get into a groove. The best thing you can do for yourself to get into grooves, to be able to get into a groove more easily is do it every day. Not just five days a week, but seven days a week.
Oh, it's so difficult. My God, for me, it's not impossible, but very, very difficult for me, especially when I quit smoking. When I quit smoking, I needed to develop new habits.
And my habits were pretty bad. I was a smoker for over 20 years. over 30 years, my goodness. But I did it. And part of it was completely changing my daily routine.
And by not having a five day a week routine, by having a seven day a week routine, that allowed me to get into a groove. Now, what is a groove? Okay, for you young people, you might not know. But for us older people,
Do you remember the records? Nowadays, it's MP3. Before MP3s, it was CDs. Before CDs, it was tapes. Before tapes, it was records. And you needed a record player, right?
And when you got the record player, you put the needle on the record and you put the needle into a groove. That record looks very smooth, but if you look at it very closely, you'll see there's actually little valleys, mountains and valleys.
And when you put the needle in a certain valley, a new song will begin. Do you remember that? That's the idea of getting into a groove. Once you're into a groove, the same song will always play.
That's the idea. It's a great expression. You guys have a fantastic day. Get into a good groove and together, let's master English. Did you ride this morning?
