I-N-A nutshell. N-U-T-S-H-E-L-L. In a nutshell. What does this mean? Well, we explain something in a nutshell. And what that means is to explain something in a really succinct way.
Oh, there's a difficult word. In a really simple way with as few words as possible. OK, so let me give you an example. So I talk about my DDM class. DDM classes.
I could explain DDM for 30 minutes. But in a nutshell, DDM is a class that teaches you listening skills very quickly. English listening skills. That's it.
What is PERF? Oh, PERF, well, the P stands for pronunciation, the I stands for intonation, rhythm, and then flow, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. But PERF, in a nutshell, teaches you how to speak like an American.
So in a nutshell, PERF teaches you how to speak like an American. DDM teaches you how to master your English listening. That's it. It's a great expression in a nutshell.
If you want to explain something that's actually really complicated or very difficult, but you need to do it really quickly or in real simple words, you need to explain it in a nutshell.
And this is a great thing to practice. This is called summarizing. Oh, yes. And if you're a test taker, if you're a business person, you will need to summarize a lot.
