Easy English Expression Rehashed Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions Come on, let's master English Hi, everybody. Coach Shane here. It is August of 2026 when I'm recording this.
The weather has been hot. Has the weather been hot where you are? Well, if that's the case, then you need today's expression. EQ 497. Let's go back in time.
It's the weekend. For most of you, hopefully you have the day off. I hope you do. I'm very happy. Actually, the weekends are my busy time. But many of you are probably going to relax.
Now, fall, autumn, A-U-T-U-M-N. September 23rd is the magic day. So it's already fall a couple of days now. So I'm guessing for many of you, the weather is starting to cool down.
Well, today, where I live in the desert, it was 41. Oh, yeah. It's still very, very hot. And when it's really hot, what can we do? Today's expression is what we can do.
Listen carefully. Take a dip. Take a dip. Yeah. Taking a dip is very nice. What does it mean to take a dip? T-A-K-E-A, the article A, take a dip, D-I-P. Not a deep, a dip.
To take a dip means to go swimming. Yeah, let's go take a dip. I want to take a dip. I wish I could take a dip. I took a dip today. Tomorrow, I'm going to take a dip.
Take a dip, take a dip, take a dip, dip, dip, dip, dip, dip, dip, dip. Isn't it easy? English is so easy. Let's check out the dialogue. Oh, it's so hot.
Let's go take a dip. Oh, great idea. The lake? Too far. Let's go to the pool. Yep. Where can you take a dip? Well, you can take a dip in the ocean, take a dip in the lake, take a dip in the river, take a dip in the pond, take a dip in the swimming pool.
There are many places to take a dip. Do you take a dip in the bathtub? No, you sit in a bathtub. You don't take a dip. Take a dip means to swim. Okay, so what about you?
Do you ever take a dip? When was the last time you took a dip? We don't say dipped. I dipped yesterday. No, we don't say that. I took a dip yesterday.
I went swimming yesterday. Okay. Remember that. Take a dip. Took a dip. We always use those words together. For me, I took a dip about two weeks ago. I was out fishing.
It was too hot. I wasn't catching any fish. So I went into the water. I took a dip and where I go fishing, the temperature outside is really hot, but interestingly, the water is really cold.
So it's a nice contrast. Yeah. So I took a dip. It was a river and a nice clean river. I didn't, uh, I enjoy that very much. I don't really like taking a dip in the pool and there are two reasons.
Number one, pools are dirty you know people's hair people's spit stuff from their nose and other places yeah little kids come on you go in a swimming pool and you find the warm water you know there's a problem
too i don't like the swimming pool because of the chemicals so many chemicals yeah the chlorine i can't believe chlorine at my age i got skin problems so i gotta be careful yeah that's why i prefer the lake and i know lakes are dirty too animals going to the bathroom and i know what can you do just take showers in the summertime you need to take a dip
So I want to know where you take a dip. Okay? Please let me know. On Twitter, at Coach Shane. C-O-A-C-H-S-H-A-N-E. On Facebook, our Facebook page is www.facebook.com.
E-S-L Coach Shane. So anyway, that's it. Take a dip. Where do you take a dip? When was the last time you took a dip? If you're not taking a dip, why don't you take a dip?
Is it too cold to take a dip? Maybe tomorrow I'll take a dip. If I take a dip tomorrow, I'll take a picture. I'll take a picture of me taking a dip. If I take a dip tomorrow.
Take a dip, dip, dip, dip, dip, dip, dip. Sorry. Listen to the dialogue two more times. Oh, it's so hot. Let's go take a dip. Oh, great idea. The lake?
Too far. Let's go to the pool. Oh, it's so hot. Let's go take a dip. Oh, great idea. The lake? Too far. Let's go to the pool. Thanks so much for listening.
