Well, yesterday we talked about sports. Who's your money on? And I thank you very much for your comments on Facebook and Twitter. Today also it is sports related.

The refs. The refs. So if you like sports, you need to know this word, the refs, R-E-F-S. Refs is short for referee, R-E-F-E-R-E-E. Referees are the guys with the whistles who watch the game looking for penalties and violations.

The refs. So sometimes when you watch a game, you have good refs. Sometimes when you watch a game, you have bad refs. So if you like sports, many times you're going to talk about the refs.

And what do refs do? Refs, ref. Referees, referee, games. We can use the word referee as a noun and as a verb. And we can shorten referee as a verb to ref also.

So for example, the refs, refed, bad r-e-f-f-e-d the ref's reffing was terrible the referee's possessive reffing r-e-f-f-i-n-g was terrible it's a great word you need to know this word if you like sports ref r-e-f especially most common as a noun

Short for referee, the officiating official, the guy, sometimes a lady, who watches the game looking for penalties and violations. And what do they do? They officiate the game. Another word, they ref the game.

They referee the game. Let's check out this old dialogue from the World Cup. This World Cup is going to be high tech. How so? They're using goal line technology.

So the refs won't miss any goals? Yeah, thanks to technology. The ref's job is getting easier because we can rely on technology. We can watch instant replay of video.

And in the World Cup, the goals, they have sensors. So when a ball actually goes into the goal, an electronic sensor knows that and gives a signal that a goal was made.

So there you go. Refs are probably enjoying this technology. I would guess. You know, I have a DDM student who is a ref. So if you're listening to this, please tell me.

Do you like the technology available to refs? Or would you prefer no technology, only trusting the refs? And what about you sports fans out there? Do you like to trust the ref or do you like the technology?

Me, you know what? I'm kind of old school and technology is great. I do like it and I use it. But at the same time, sometimes relying on humans, even though we make mistakes, sometimes I like it.

So maybe for sports, no tech is better than high tech. That's just my opinion. Let's check out the dialogue two more times. I would love to hear your opinion.

This World Cup is going to be high tech. How so? They're using goal line technology. So the refs won't miss any goals? This World Cup is going to be high tech.
