It sounds about right. Sounds S O U N D S about A B O U T. Right. R I G H T. It's an easy expression, but it's super common. Now I have been teaching English since 1987.

Yes, really? Seriously? I have never, I should not say that. I cannot ever remember any of my students using this expression until after I taught them.

This is such a good expression. Sounds about right means I think so. That's a good guess. Yes, that's probably right. Sounds about right. So let's talk about Coach Shane.

That's me. How old do you think Coach Shane is? Oh, I don't know. By listening to his voice, I'm going to guess 35. That sounds about right. Yeah, 35.

That's probably correct. By listening to Shane's voice... How much do you think Coach Shane weighs his body weight? Oh, I don't know. By listening to his voice, I'm going to guess he weighs about 60 kilograms.

That sounds about right. That's probably true. By listening to Shane, by hearing him speak, how tall do you think Coach Shane is? Oh, he sounds kind of big.

So I'm going to guess 182 centimeters. That sounds about right. That sounds true. I guess 182 centimeters is correct. Now, actually, unfortunately, each of those guesses was completely wrong.

Yeah, I'm old. I've got sweaters older than you guys. No, seriously, I have a jacket older than most of you. It's true. I have a jacket from 1983. I still wear it.

Yep, 1983, people. I have jackets older than you. My height, no, I'm not. I didn't crack 180. I'm 178. On a good day, I'm 179 centimeters. My body weight, oh, a long, long, long time ago, I was 60 kilograms.

But now I was a skinny little boy. Now I'm a fat boy. 75 kilograms. Yep. You can call me fat, short, bald, old Shane, but I love you just the same. And I know you love me.

Do you love me? Yes, we do. Sounds about right. I'm sure you do. I think that's a good guess. It's a great expression. Let's check out our dialogue. Hmm, how much longer?

About 60 miles. So we should get there around 3? Sounds about right. Yeah, when you're driving... You know, you always wonder how much further, how many more miles or kilometers.

Most of you probably want to know kilometers or kilometers, how many more kilometers. So 60 miles is about 100 kilometers. So how much longer, how much further, how much, what is the distance from here to our destination? About 60 miles, approximately 60 miles, around 60 miles, 100 kilometers.

So we should get there. We should arrive around three, around three o'clock. Sounds about right. I think so. That sounds like a good guess. Sounds about right.

That sounds like a good guess. It's such an excellent expression. It is. It's a great expression. I want you to use it. And use it in your country, in your language.

So if somebody's speaking your language, for example, I speak Korean. So let me see. I'm going to say in Korean. In English, that was. So you're going to get here around 5.30.

And I want you to answer in English. Sounds about right. Sounds about right. Let me think of another example. So when you drink beer, I'm guessing your maximum is three beers.

So in Korea, somebody might say, Sounds about right. Sounds about right. That's about right. All I can drink is about three cans of beer. This is the idea.

That guess... sounds correct i don't know it might not be 100 correct but it sounds like it's a good guess a good answer it's an easy expression so i want you to use it use it in english use it to people who speak your language use it today okay that's it check out the dialogue two more times
