Easy English Expression Rehashed Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions Come on, let's master English Hello everybody, Coach Shane here, you're listening to E-Cubed Easy English Expression Rehashed Number 473.

What a great expression. These days I've been seeing the TV show The Agency. Have you heard about it? It's about the CIA. CIA, Russia, China, the UK. It's kind of interesting.

Anyway, this expression came up perfectly in that show, and they talked about it for like a minute. It was really cool. So enjoy today's expression. It is super common, excellent expression.

And don't forget to join my community, school.com slash LME. Let's go back in time. Today's expression is very good. My gut tells me. My gut tells me.

My gut tells me. What does this mean? My, M-Y, my gut, G-U-T, tells, T-E-L-L-S, one gut, so tell with a verb with an S. My gut tells me. My gut tells me tomorrow will be a nice day.

My gut tells me my mother is angry. My gut tells me your English is pretty good. What does this mean? G-U-T, what does your gut mean? Your gut means your insides, especially around your stomach, the intestines, the stomach, that area, the abdominal region.

And when we say my gut tells me, what it means is I have a feeling. I have an instinct. It's not really your brain telling you. It's not your heart telling you.

You just have this feeling inside that mom is angry, that tomorrow will be a nice day, that your English is really good. My gut tells me. We have no proof, P-R-O-O-F. We have no proof, but we just have a feeling.

It's not an intellectual feeling. It's not an emotional feeling with my heart. It's just a guess. So if you play, I don't know, the lottery to win a million dollars, how do you choose your numbers?

My gut tells me that 22 is a good number. Hmm, it's a great expression. Let's check out a dialogue. Oh, let's go back home. No, let's stay some more. Oh, two hours and not a bite.

Oh, my gut tells me the fish are getting hungry. Yeah. Do you like fishing? Oh, I love fishing. I like to go fishing as much as possible. Unfortunately, I never catch fish because I don't stay long enough.

When I go fishing, usually I only fish for about an hour and I always do the same thing, so I'm not successful. But anyway, I like it and I should stay longer.

Because every time I leave, I have to go home. I have to work. But my gut tells me, Shane, if you stay a little bit longer, you're going to catch a big fish.

But I can't. I have work to do. So I have to leave. Yeah. Tomorrow for me is Sunday. Yeah. My gut tells me tomorrow might be a good fishing day. I'll have to go fishing again tomorrow.

I hope I catch a fish. You know what? My gut tells me I won't catch a fish. That's terrible. Yeah. Anyway, my gut tells me. I have a feeling. I think.

I guess. Now, remember, when we say my gut tells me, it's not an intellectual guess, right? It's not an emotional guess. My calculations, my mind tells me that tomorrow will be hot.

Now that's intellectual. We are using our mind. We're thinking about it. We're using statistics. My heart tells me, oh, my heart tells me that she loves me.

Oh. Now, sometimes your heart lies, everybody. This is your gut. My gut tells me I'm going to catch a fish. It's just a feeling. Sometimes it's right.

Sometimes it's not. You guys have a fantastic day. Don't forget, if you're thinking about joining DDM, this is the time to do it. Monday we start a new program, www.letsmasterenglish.com.
