Hit it. Let's go back in time. Today's expression is easy. I know that you know this expression. So let's concentrate on pronunciation. Opposites attract.

Opposites attract. Do you know the expression? Opposites attract. Let me give you the spelling. O-P-P-O-S-I-T-E-S, opposites attract, A-T-T-R-A-C-T. So we say opposites attract.

Opposites attract. Opposites attract. Opposite. It sounds like a Z. Oppo schwa. Opposites attract. And the S links to the word attract. Opposites attract.

What does it mean, opposites attract? It means that something that is completely different likes something the opposite. Does that make sense? I don't know.

Let's think of it this way. If you think of perhaps a popular soap opera or a television drama, usually it's a rich boy falls in love with a poor girl or a poor boy falls in love with a rich girl. And they're the opposite. The world they live in is the opposite of

One person has a life of ease, a life of luxury, good food, nice house, good schools, good education, good opportunities, good jobs. The other person has nothing, probably knows how to fight, hasn't had the chance for education, lives in a bad house, maybe is from a broken family. But these two people fall in love.

Opposites attract. You might think of somebody like me. Very high IQ. Loves to play chess. Um, no, that's not me. Yeah. Opposites attract. What do you think when it comes to relationships?

And this is a, an expression we use for relationships. Are you in a relationship? Is your wife or husband, boyfriend, girlfriend, are they the opposite of you or are they quite similar? Hmm.

Let's check out a dialogue. You think opposites attract? Eh, maybe at first. Yeah, I agree. If two people are too different, I don't think a relationship will work.

There you go. That's my philosophy. Opposites attract? Yeah, maybe at first. Maybe. Tough guy. Women seem to like a tough guy. I don't know why that is.

That's why I know women like me. Guys don't like me either. I'm tough. Anyway, yeah, opposites attract maybe at first, but in a relationship, if the two people are too different, that's T-O-O, too different.

Too different means different by too much. They're the opposites. If two people are too different, I don't think a relationship will work. I don't know.

What do you think? Are you in a relationship where you are like completely different from your boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife? And is your relationship working?

Or are you pretty similar? I mean, look at it this way. Do you know some old people that have been a couple for 40, 50 years, 60 years maybe? Yeah. And those people tend to be like brother and sister.

I'm thinking of my grandparents. Yeah. All my grandparents were very much like each other. It was very pretty to see that type of relationship. They did the same thing.

You know, like, for example, my grandpa Peterson, he was always a complainer. And my grandma Peterson, she was always the nice person. But... They were a perfect complement.

They weren't too opposite. They liked the same food. They had the same hobbies. They had the same sleeping hours. Sure, they had some differences, and sometimes those differences were pretty big, but they, for certain, were not opposites.

Now, I don't know. Maybe there is some special relationship that has lasted. So I want to know. I want to know about you or maybe somebody in your family.
