It uses a word that all of you know, but maybe you don't know how to use the word all the time. This is the thing. When you're learning English, a lot of people say, oh, I need to learn more vocabulary.

No, that's not necessarily true. But what you do need to know is to learn how to use the vocabulary you already know. All right. And today's expression is perfect.

454. Enjoy it. Let's go back in time. Do you know the expression? That's a nice t-shirt. That's a good t-shirt. That's pretty simple, right? How about you have some chicken?

That is good chicken. That is tasty chicken. What about you listen to a song? Ooh, I like that song. That's a nice song. Ooh, that's a good song. Yeah.

Do you understand those expressions, those sentences? Yeah. Sure, that's easy. Of course, that's basic English, basic conversation. So let me upgrade your English today.

Instead of saying, that's a nice t-shirt. Instead of saying, that was a delicious dinner. Instead of saying, that's a great song. You can say this. Ooh, some t-shirt.

Some t-shirt, huh? Some dinner. Some dinner, huh? Oh yeah, some song. Some song, huh? That's all you need to say. Some S-O-M-E and then whatever it was.

Some t-shirt, some song, some dinner, some chicken. And then if you want your friend to say, yeah, like if you think your friend will agree, at the end you can say, huh? Which is spelt H-U-H.

So if you watch my eCubed videos, sometimes I have some interesting t-shirts. And I have t-shirts from all around the world because you guys have sent me. T-shirts and my favorite T-shirts are the T-shirts that have Russian letters or Arabic letters or Thai letters or Korean letters or Japanese letters. It can be German and French too.

I don't care. I mean but just something in your language. I like those T-shirts. I don't need to know what the T-shirt means. It might mean something really bad but anyway, I like wearing them.

So if you see me wearing a nice t-shirt, you can say, some t-shirt. And that means that's a nice t-shirt. Now, I'm going to teach you the opposite expression after you listen to today's dialogue. Here you go.

Oh, I'm full. Me too. Some dinner, huh? When it comes to cooking, mom's the best. Yes. Thanks, mom. Yeah, do you agree? Is your mother the greatest cook?

Or your husband, your wife, are they the greatest cook? Who's the best cook in your family? You? Maybe. In my family, I would have to say – when I was a kid, I remember my mom making really delicious food all the time.

Nowadays, my mom eats at Burger King. I'm sorry. Burger King just doesn't make good food. Oh, it's tasty. It's just not healthy. So yeah. So I guess when it comes to cooking, my mom sometimes cooks and when she cooks, it's fantastic.

But I'm cooking all the time. So I guess therefore I am the better cook. Now, I promised to tell you the opposite. So let's say you're eating dinner and this is some dinner.

It's really good. But what if the dinner is horrible? It's like expensive. It doesn't taste good. The amount is really terrible. I mean, it's ridiculous.

In this situation, you can say some dinner. Yes, you can say the same word. Let's say you're watching a movie. Let's say you're watching Matrix. So when I watched the movie Matrix, I said, wow, some movie.

Oh, yeah. But my friend, John, he thought it was the stupidest movie in the world. And he said, yeah, some movie. God, what a waste of money. So this expression, some movie, can be positive and it can be negative.

You have to be careful. So how do you know which is which? Is it positive or is it negative? Look at the person who's speaking. Listen to how they're saying it.

Are they happy? Are they disappointed? Then you should be able to understand. But I do warn you, be careful. Some people like to use sarcasm. British people love to use sarcasm.

I remember one time I got a haircut. I thought the haircut was okay. It was actually a little bit too short, but not too bad. And I met my friend John, the British guy, and he said, oh, Shane, some haircut.

I have no idea. Even to this day, I still don't know what he means. Did he mean that was a nice haircut or did he mean it was a stupid haircut? I have no idea.

And because I have pride, I did not ask. So even sometimes me, an American, a native English speaking person, sometimes I don't know what people are saying. Are they being positive or are they being negative? But usually, 98% of the time, you can understand by seeing how they say it, by listening to how they say it.

Some t-shirt. Some t-shirt. That's today's expression. Try and practice. Enjoy the dialogue two more times. Oh, I'm full. Me too. Some dinner, huh? When it comes to cooking, Mom's the best.
