Sometimes, maybe, when you speak English, do other people sometimes not understand... Oh, yeah. If that's you, yeah, that's very common. It needs to be fixed.

It's about pronunciation. If pronunciation is not clear, then it sounds like E cubed number 448. Please let me help you fix your pronunciation so you do not sound like E cubed number 448.

Gibberish. What does the word gibberish mean? It means something was said, but you didn't understand anything. Somebody wrote something with a pen or a pencil, but you couldn't read anything.

Now, especially this word is used when we're listening. We're listening to something, but we don't understand what the person is saying. So maybe the person is a very smart scientist like Stephen Hawking.

And he's explaining some very deep concept in physics. And he's blah, blah, blah. And we just don't understand. He is speaking gibberish. It sounds like gibberish.

It sounds like nothing. It doesn't make any sense. I don't understand it. Now, sometimes we use this to describe a foreign language. So in America, most Americans do not understand anything in Korean.

So if I said something in Korean, for example, Did you understand what I said? Probably not. It was probably gibberish to you. Do you have a similar word in your country?

Let's check out today's dialogue. So, how is Shane's DDM class? Well, the news stories are pretty easy. But that situation comedy? Oh, a bunch of gibberish.

Well, situation comedies give you real daily English. Study hard. I know. I won't give up. Absolutely. DDM, that's my listening class. I teach you guys.

I teach people who want to master English how to listen, how to understand what Americans are saying so that you can watch a television show or watch a movie or you can travel to America.

You can have a tour guide speaking English, an American tour guide or maybe you go to university. a lecture, some symposium, some expo where people are speaking in English.

DDM is the class that teaches you how to understand what Americans are saying. Now, if you listen to me, actually my pronunciation is pretty clear and most of you have an easy time understanding what I say, correct? Correct.

But actually sometimes if I wanted to speak normally, I might speak like this. The speed could go up a lot or maybe just like cancellation and things like this. Or yeah, sometimes when I'm tired, it's going to sound like this and I just don't really have the motivation to speak really slow. But I have to do that sometimes because I'm an English teacher and I really need to speak slowly and clearly so that you guys can understand.

Did you understand what I said or was it just a bunch of gibberish? Yeah. All right. I want you to give me an example of something that sounds like gibberish to you.

I'll give you one example. I'm an old guy, but sometimes I don't mind that hip-hop music, that rap music. And I have to say, the American rapper Eminem, even if you don't like his music, he really is good.

very clever at making rhymes, at making interesting stories in his lyrics. But I'll be honest, when he sings a song, it sounds like gibberish to me. I can't understand what he says. I have to look at the lyrics.

Once I see the lyrics, then I realize, oh, it's not gibberish. It's actually really interesting. Can you think of a song or an actor or a movie or a situation where all you heard was gibberish?
