E-cubed. The rehash. Today, number 434. Ooh, I like it. To plug in. Many times when we hear plug, we think electricity, but not this time. Check out the podcast.

Let's go back in time. Today, we have a phrasal verb. But if you look in the dictionary, they give you only one definition. And I searched online and nobody talks about the definition I will give you today.

The verb is to plug in. P-L-U-G-I-N. So look at your computer. Your computer needs electricity, right? So how do you give electricity to your computer?

You need to take the cord, the power cord, and connect it to the back of your computer and plug it. in the other side of the cord or the cable to the wall, into the plug.

This is the idea of to plug in, to connect something to electricity, okay? So you can also plug in an electric guitar to an amplifier, okay? You can plug anything into something else to connect it to something else, usually with electricity. However, today I'm going to give you another definition we use to plug in in daily conversation when we talk about adding something to our schedule or adding something to our diet.

Adding something to our work. Adding something to our website. So this is a very useful expression. And once again, it just means to add something. To squeeze something in.

So for example, I try to eat a very healthy diet. I try to plug in some fruits in each meal, some vegetables too, to add. Now, most commonly, plug in is used as a phrasal verb when we're talking about our schedule. So check out today's dialogue.

I'm getting fat. You need to plug in an hour a day of exercise. Oh, I'm too lazy. Then enjoy your fatness. Do you have a busy schedule? Yep. You wake up in the morning.

You get ready for work or for school. You go to work. You go to school. Maybe you're a mom or a dad. You're taking care of the kids all day. You take them to school.

You clean the house. You're cooking meals. You do your work. You do your job. You study. You come home. You take a shower. You get ready for dinner. You have some snacks.

You maybe do some exercise. Watch a little bit of TV. Maybe check out my podcast or my videos. Study a little English. And then time to go to bed. Very busy day.

You don't have time to do much else. But it is important to plug in an hour of exercise each day. And what's nice about podcasts is you can plug in the podcast while you exercise. You can plug in the podcast right directly to your ears while you're exercising.
