Easy English Expression. Rehashed! Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions. Come on, let's master English! Hey everybody, Coach Shane coming at you.

E-Cube number 429. How are you doing today? Thank you so much for listening to the podcast. I really appreciate it. Share it with your friends. If it's useful to you, maybe it will be useful to them.

I want to help the world master English. Enjoy E-Cube number 429. Let's go back in time. Today's expression is really good. You snooze, you lose. Ho, ho, ho, ho.

You snooze, you lose. If you snooze, then you lose. If you do A, then you do B. A is what? Snooze. S-N-O-O-Z-E. Snooze. What does it mean to snooze? Well, in this case, snooze means to sleep.

To take a nap. To not pay attention. And lose, L-O-S-E, lose means to lose the game. Lose the race. Lose the competition. Lose the opportunity. Are you familiar with the story?

The tortoise and the hare. You know, that turtle and that bunny. We say the tortoise and the hare. Do you know the difference between a tortoise and a turtle?

My DDM students do. Anyway, I do too. But that's not important. So you know the story. The tortoise and the hare, obviously the hare, the bunny, the rabbit is much, much, much, much faster than the tortoise, which is like a turtle.

But – Of course, the bunny and they had a race and the bunny took off and then the bunny went to sleep and the tortoise. Well, he ended up winning because the bunny was sleeping. So if you snooze, you lose.

Pay attention. Don't fall asleep. The pressure is on. I'll talk a little bit more, give you some more great examples after you check out the dialogue.

Oh, Twitter's stock is up 10%. You didn't buy? No, I wasn't sure. You snooze, you lose. Oh, I hate those people. Have you heard those people? Yeah. They're lucky.

When Facebook stock, the stock market, New York Stock Exchange, when Facebook first started selling stock and Twitter, Google, Apple. Oh, I bought it. Yeah, I bought 200 and now I'm a millionaire.

Oh, you guys are so lucky. Yes, yes, it's true. I was snoozing. I was worried. I wasn't sure. But people who win in those situations, that's what they say.

They say, you snooze, you lose. Yeah, you were not paying attention. Therefore, you missed the opportunity. Now I am rich and you are poor. It's true.

It's true. Yeah, opportunity. We have an expression in America, opportunity only knocks once. I don't think that's true. Opportunity in your life will come several times, but it's really important to be prepared when opportunity knocks.

Are you prepared? I hope so. You snooze, you lose. If you're not paying attention, if you're not prepared, then you will lose the opportunity. You'll lose the chance.

It happens in so many situations. It happens at your work. A new project comes along. The boss says, does anybody want to do the project? You're like, I don't know.

I don't know. Some other guy does the project. Boom. Successful. He becomes the CEO. It happens in relationships. There's a person that you're interested in.

Should you go say hi? No. Yes. No. Yes. Then some other guy goes and says hi and boom. He's in a relationship. They get married. The person was wonderful.

Perfect. Have happy children. Everything's great. You lost. You snooze. You lose. I'm sorry. It's true. It is. Not always. Uh... No, always. You got to be prepared.

That's the key, everybody. It's not that you can't sleep. You need to always prepare yourself so that when the opportunity comes along, you recognize it.

And then you take advantage of the opportunity and you become a winner. That's what's important, to always prepare yourself for the unexpected, to continue to educate yourself, to continue to open your eyes to the world around you. Yes, there are many bad things, but there are many potential opportunities too.

So I hope you guys are not snoozing right now because I don't want you guys to be losing. Let's check out the dialogue two more times. Twitter's stock is up 10%. You didn't buy?

No, I wasn't sure. You snooze, you lose. Ah, Twitter's stock is up 10%. You didn't buy? No, I wasn't sure. You snooze, you lose. Thanks so much for listening.
