Today's expression. In a heartbeat. In a heartbeat. In a heartbeat. H-E-A-R-T-B-E-A-T. It is one word. What does in a heartbeat mean? It means in a second.

In a second. I will help you in a heartbeat. I'll call him in a heartbeat. I would do it in a heartbeat. It's such a great expression to do something without thinking very quickly, absolutely right away without hesitation.

All of these are involved in the expression. So I'll give you an example. If you could travel to the United States, would you go? Some of you would say in a heartbeat.

Absolutely. I would go without hesitation right away. Yes. Boom. I'm there. But some people might not really like the US. So they would say, well, maybe, maybe not.

Some people might be a little bit older. I don't mean like a grandpa, grandma, but just like my age, in the 40s, traveling to another country. Boy, I don't know. You got to make reservations and you got to rent a car and exchange money.

Yeah. Got to worry about the language difference, the food, the hospital. What happens if you get sick? There's too many worries. Somebody like me does not travel easily.

But when I was younger... Whoops. There. I would travel in a heartbeat. Hey Shane, would you like to go to Italy? Yeah, I'm there in a heartbeat. Hey Shane, would you like to go to Japan?

Yeah, I'm there in a heartbeat. Hey Shane, would you like to go to the grocery store? Yeah, I'm there in a heartbeat. I would go immediately... And also without hesitation, without worry, without thought.

That's the key idea of this expression. Let's check out a dialogue. I hate my job. Google's hiring. Oh, I'd take a job there in a heartbeat. Yeah, but would they take you?

that's not nice yeah well google is hiring the company google they are hiring they're looking for people would you be interested in working for google all right really good salary good benefits maybe some stock options if you had a choice google microsoft or apple where would you want to work none of them

Yeah. Me, no thanks. Once again, if I were younger, boy, that would be a tough one. Google, Apple, or Microsoft. Boy, that would be difficult. Microsoft, no.

Google or Apple. My goodness. I like both. And they're so different, right? They're so different and yet they're so similar. I would probably go Apple because Google is scary.

I think the Google people are really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really smart. And Apple people are dumb. No, I didn't say that. I'm just joking.

Yeah. No, but if I were young, I would probably take a job at Google in a heartbeat, at Apple in a heartbeat, at Microsoft in a heartbeat. Yeah. If I had no money, I'd take a job at McDonald's in a heartbeat.

Sure. Without thinking, without hesitation, right away. It's a great expression. It means immediately, right away. But the deeper nuance, the deeper meaning to this expression is it means without hesitation.
