How are you? Come on in here. I just wonder how many zoomies just fast forwarded and skip my 15 second introduction. Answer all of them. Why? Why? And that's our question today.
We're talking about why. Now, before you run, because here goes another guy talking about the why, you have never heard anybody talk about why like I have today. Because I actually don't like it. I actually think there's something that's more important that's better, and I'm going to tell you what that is.
Plus, there is an action you are not taking, and that is the reason you're not getting what you want. And it's easier than you think. It's so much easier, but it's slowing you down. So you get a double whammy today.
Hang on for the ride, okay? It is the daily boost from MotivationToMove.com, the positive boost you need every single day. SB Scott Smith, good to have you here today. COVID's got me still a little bit.
I feel good. I do. I have energy. I'm asleep in normal hours. I feel good now. But I went to the gym today. I was there about 12 minutes and I was like, I can't do this.
It's just not there yet. And then about 10 minutes ago, I said, I'm going to go do a podcast. I sounded great. And then COVID said, well, let me put a frog in your throat before you go in there.
And it did. Do the best again. Yeah, the why thing. I'm telling you, you're thinking about it wrong. Simon Sinek made a lot of money on a book called Why?
And I don't disagree, but I sort of do. There's something that comes before that. We'll do that in a second. Before I start, let me get this out of the way, okay?
In June, I mentioned I was going to start a community. And a lot of y'all came and said, yes, I want to join. And you clicked on the thing, like 200 people. And then I didn't say another word.
Why? Kind of got my mouth out before my brain. But really what happened was this. that there was something I wanted to do with a community like you working with people.
I wanted to make sure you had a coach who would answer your questions, not just a course, just, not just pay something to go hang out, not just hang out with a bunch of people who just talked about blah, blah, blah. I wanted a like-minded community where your coach was actually working with you and answering your questions. I wanted to give you the same ability to get your questions answered and
that the folks who pay me a couple of grand a month, or my inner circle people pay, and they do it for an hour or so a week, I wanted to give you the access to at least get your questions answered.
That's what I built. I'll tell you more next week. I can tell you this. I want you a couple of grand worth of value, and I want to do it at a price point you'll think I'm stupid.
And my wife said, are you stupid? I said, no, I figured it out. Here's what we're going to do. And if you want to be a founder with me, if you'd like to help me build this program,
It's going to be really good right from day one. I'm going to give you even a better price. Get on what my email is. Go to motivation2move.com. All spelled out.
Just put your name in something. I will not spam you. That's a promise. But we'll let you know when we're going to do it, okay? More later. But now let's get to work.
All right. Life coaches are going, he's stupid. He's going to talk about the why. The why is the most important thing ever. No, it's not. It's important.
It's not the most important thing ever. That's kind of coaching one-on-one. And I will contend that a lot of people are walking around with a why, whining with their why, kind of in the manifestation world. Why don't I get it?
I want this. Why, why, why? And they get frustrated. Because at the end of the day, getting what you want in life comes down to being pretty practical.
Now, listen, I'm an optimistic, spiritual kind of guy. I'm one of those people. I believe, hey, God's got a plan. God has his own timing, right? So cool.
I still want to get stuff done. So practicality is kind of built into me in a positive way. And that's why I moved in a different direction. So before I started, I just want to say this.
The why is important in many, many ways. I'm not against it. There's a place I use it all the time. It gets you started. It keeps you moving when things get tough.
Sometimes it's your purpose. It's your inner wiring. There's no doubt about it. But what I've noticed a long time ago is that people come to me with all kinds of whys,
but no what's all kinds of wise, why they want something, but no what's. But what I figured out with this is that the why is usually the result of a what I'm talking slowly right now. What is it? I don't have enough money.
So why do you want to get another job? Cause I don't have enough money. What is it? My car is not reliable. So what's the why I want a reliable car. So my little brain said almost every single time something pops into my hand and it's a what that I want.
And so I kind of stand back and I tell people that all the time. And as soon as they get it, that, yeah, you're right. This is something I want. It's a what.
Then we can get to the why. So if you don't know your what, you won't move. Bottom line. Why? there's the why. Well, you can't because you don't know what it is.
It's like having a goal. If you don't have a goal, if you don't set a goal, you can't go get it because you don't have it. A goal is not a why. A goal is a what.
So if you don't have a what, you will sit there and spin in circles. A lot of the coaching that I do is to help you figure out your what, not your why.
The why comes later. Usually a second later, a sentence later. If you don't know what to do, you won't do it. How many times have you said, Scott, man, my why is so powerful.
I know why I won. I just don't know what to do. Could you tell me what to do? Give me a framework. Give me a blueprint. Give me the steps. I could do that all day.
The what's more important than the why. The why maybe helps you sustain. If you decided early on that what you need is a happier life and your why locks into it and every single day you get out of bed looking for it, that's important. But don't forget, it started with a what.
Now, I beat that into submission enough, right? I want you to have a what first and do me a favor as you go through the day today, as things pop into your head, notice how the what pops in your head first.
And then notice how right after that, it's like the why you want it comes in. It's like I've been shopping for cars. Well, I've been shopping for a Tesla. I mean, I love that full driving thing, man.
It's awesome. I just want it, want it, want it. But now what I'm doing is I'm in the stage of conjuring up the why. Then I got to build up enough why in my wife because she's next in line to get a brand new car.
I got to figure that out. So my whole motivation, my why is to get my wife to get excited so that I can get what I want, a Tesla. See how that works. So what's the action I mentioned?
If you know what you want and you have your why dialed in, I don't care if it's your relationships. I don't care if it's your business. If you start a business, you probably started with a what.
And you wanted some freedom, some money, something after that. That was your why, basically. But you knew what you wanted to do, right? Lots of times it's hard to get started.
Now, Tony Robbins many, many years ago said, take massive action. He still says it. It's his thing. That's why I always give it to Tony. We all got it from Tony, right?
Take massive action. There was a problem with that. When you take massive action, it's like, why do I have to take massive action? I'm too busy already.
I don't want to work that hard, right? I don't want to. It's like at the gym. If you own a gym and you want to get new members in the door, don't tell your members, come in here and sweat.
They don't want to sweat. They just want to get in shape and look pretty. Maybe CrossFitters. Is that still a thing? Nobody wants to take massive action.
They just want their thing. They just want to get whatever they want. That's all there is to it. Still, that doesn't take away from the fact that massive action is actually how you get stuff, right?
It makes a crazy mess. So here's what Scott does. I flip things around. Remember, I told you the why comes later. The what starts first. I flip things around because I use some freaking common sense.
That's just the way it happens. I didn't think of that myself. Y'all talked to me about 10 million times and that's what you did. I had coaching calls by the gazillion.
And you taught me that. And then you taught me that, yeah, I'm out there doing this. I'm doing that. I can't get anywhere. It's crazy, Scott. What do I do?
Just tell me how to fix this thing. And the stress comes from the massive action. And so what I tell you is this, the thing you're not taking if you find yourself stalled is you're not taking massive, imperfect action.
It's a simple word we throw in the middle of it. And I can tell you in all the conversations I've had that that one word, imperfect, frees people to go after it.
If you know what you want and that percolates a why in you and you understand that I'm just going to give it the best I got, no matter what it is, I'm going to make mistakes. I'm going to make a mess like me when I said I'm opening a community and then I didn't do it. And then I came back around two months later, three months later, and I got a better idea. I just took massive imperfect action.
That's it. Doesn't have to be perfect. Just got to do it. If you can do that, life changes. So really read me solidly on this. And this is your homework assignment today.
Business, personal, just anything. Notice how the what pops in your mind first. And notice how your brain immediately goes, yeah, this is why I want the what. Notice how that happens.
It's built from that angle first. And then if you really want it, don't wait till it's perfect. Just take massive action. Just go for it. Start today.
Massive imperfect action. Mess it up. We'll clean it up later. Motivation2move.com, all spelled out. Get on my list so I can give you a great opportunity.
See you tomorrow.
