How are you? Come on in here. Good to have you here today. Thank you for stopping by. So in about 20 years of doing this show, I just kind of shown up.
I mean, I just I didn't have a grand plan when I started. I was coaching and I just jumped into the podcast and kept doing this thing for 20 years. And eventually you just kind of kind of learn things. I mean, you think you know everything in the beginning, but then you just do it tens of thousands of times.
Not the podcast, but everything around it. And you figure a few things out. So yesterday we talked about the 12 levers. Gave you my opinion on that. Today I take it down to two.
Just two little levers, two little things that it boils, everything boils down to. Make it easy today. So if you don't like all the stuff I talked about yesterday, it's easier today. It is a daily boost from motivation2move.com.
The positive boost you need every single day to grow your life and grow your business, whatever it is. When I say positive, I don't necessarily mean rah, rah, yeah, let's always be happy and optimistic. And I think you should be. I think you should live a life of joy and kindness.
But then we run into each other. We do. I had a conversation yesterday with an inner circle call, and I dared to do something. I got into talking about values.
Now, whenever you talk about values, I have very definite opinions on that. I've just seen it so often. But one of the gentlemen on the call said to me, he said, well, you can't talk, you can't solve this in 90 minutes. You can't have a 90-bit call and completely learn about your values.
Honestly, I think you can do it in about 30 seconds. But I told him that. I said, I think you can do it in 30 seconds. You all have your values. What you can't solve in 90 minutes is how we all get along because we all have different values.
And so you can only be nice to each other so long. You can only tolerate everybody so long and eventually you have to go away. You know what I mean by that? It's like if you don't agree with somebody with their values and how they see the world, everybody will have a certain level of tolerance and be willing to discuss it at least somewhat to some point.
But at some point, you're like, well, listen, I'm not going to take it anymore. I'm taking you down. But that's what values are, right? That's what values are.
Values should be your principled stand. And we all get along because we've learned to exist in society. But make no mistake, every single day, you run into people who do not completely share your values.
And our ability to tolerate each other's differences is what makes it work. But sometimes, eventually, you have to say goodbye and end the call, right? I knew it. I saw it.
I kind of set it up. I knew that after about an hour, maybe 70 minutes of me poking the bear, me being the facilitator on the call and just poking this thing that eventually people will get tired of just tolerating what Scott was saying. And they were going to fight back when they did. That was my point.
Exactly. So if you're going through this process, it's kind of funny. We're trying to figure all this stuff out. It really is about that. But just remember something that as you go through the day to day,
You are going to run into about 8 billion different kinds of people. And it seems like we're all the same. People say there's seven personalities in the world. No, that's some guy who decided to write a book, okay?
The truth is we're all so completely different, and it's a ridiculous miracle that we get along at all. That's it. And so once you kind of figure that out, you get to the point where I am, where I just kind of focus on what I'm doing, the best thing that I consider right. And I don't even like the word tolerance, but we have to have that, don't we?
But you know how I ended my call yesterday? I taught him a lesson. I didn't just do this. I taught him a lesson. I said, it's the, I said, when I get to that point where somebody is, I just, I can't affect an ideological, ideological change, not political, but just everything.
I just say, okay. Okay. Now let me be very clear about something. So I don't give you a lesson that you should be using today and getting yourself in trouble.
When you say, okay, you can say it silently and you probably should just inside your headset. So you can't even hear it when I don't say it out loud. You just say,
Let me give you the words so you understand. Okay. See, when I do that, it's like, okay, and you just walk away. Okay, you're just done. Okay, you just decided you can't make a change.
You just move on with your life. If you're like me, and sometimes you kind of want to cause a little bit of friction, you say okay out loud. You got to be careful, though, because now it becomes about how you said it, right? You know what I mean?
See, that's how complicated life can be. So sometimes we spend all our time trying to figure stuff out, but ultimately you already know. You already know. So I'm going to give you the most basic advice I can give you today beyond the value thing, beyond running into 8 billion people every single day, that it's going to help you get what you want.
And it's going to come down to two simple steps. And a lot of you are going to be so disappointed by these two steps. I get it. Some of you are going to be, thank God, somebody finally said it.
Are you ready? Step number one, if you want to get anything you want in your life, You have to decide what you want. That's it. What do I want? You know me.
I don't start with the how. I don't start with the why. I start with the what. I know Simon Sinek says, don't start with the what, start with the why.
I know Simon, you wrote a book about that. So you're going to say that. But I just notice something because I pay attention to my Scott logic, my internal guidance, and the people I work with all the time. And what I always know is they don't typically come to me saying, I want to feel this way.
And if they do, that's fine. That's still a what. The what always leads. You always decide what you want. And then it gets kind of crazy after that. So step number one in everything you want in life, to simplify everything, if you can only do this, you'll be ahead of most people I know.
Decide what you want. Now, it gets complicated, doesn't it? Because how many decisions about what you want do you have to make every single day? A lot.
There's a lot of little things going on. You don't even know what you want. Sometimes I don't care what I want. A lot of people say, Scott, I want to hear your voice.
I say, I don't care. And I really don't care. When I was in Dollywood and moving around Tennessee this past week, nine times by 10, I just didn't care. I said, whatever.
I'll just follow you. And I really didn't care. I didn't want to decide what I wanted. I was perfectly fine with you decided. I'm just going along for the ride.
If you do not decide what you want, you can't get anything. And it's silly to say that, isn't it? Because that, okay, here's what happens. You know, this is true.
Oh, I kind of like this. I want to do this. And I want to do that. And if I do this, that's going to happen. And then I did this. And my wife said, what?
I've learned something. I've learned. If you were to get on a Zoom call with me and I could see your face, you already know what you want. You maybe can't verbalize it.
You can't say the words. I had a client yesterday. He was trying to verbalize something. And I said, dude, you're trying to verbalize something you can't verbalize.
Which is a weird way of saying that you've never said it before. You've never actually passed through your lips. You don't know how to say it. We have to learn to say it.
We have to give it words. And he went, no kidding. No wonder it feels weird. Yeah. But everybody I've ever talked to. Everybody. Everything you ever do, it comes down to what I want, but it's complicated because again, there are 20, 30, 40 things a day that you want.
You're trying to accomplish throughout the day and you just, it confuses you. So, but, but at the end of the day, overall in life, in your job, in your career, in your family, whatever it happens to be in every possible situation, you have to decide what you want until you decide you don't get.
A decision cuts everything else off. Sometimes you decide what you really didn't decide. And that's okay too. Like I said, I can decide I want to go do this, but somebody has a better idea.
Sometimes I just go along with it. But ultimately, if you want to start today and you say, this is the life I want to build, we have to start by saying, well, this is what I want to build.
This is the business I want to build. This is how I'm going to do it. This is what I want. And if you get me or any good coach on the phone, not to say I'm a good coach, but I have a decent track record, I start getting specific on you.
You say, well, this is what I want. I'll say, and that means what? And that means what? And that means what? And that means what? I'll go on for an hour.
I don't care. Ultimately, you can decide what you want, but is it a deep enough decision? Have you defined the decision enough to get there? That's what causes trouble here.
Plus, you're running into people all day long who have made their own decisions along the way, and so you're second-guessing your decision. But I'm telling you, if you want to make life simple, it's just you have to sit down. Maybe tomorrow morning you'll do it. Maybe after this podcast you'll do it.
You'll sit down and say, okay, what do I want out of today? What do I want in how I make my money? What do I want in my relationship? What do I want? Make a decision, and then you have to go to step two.
So there are a million ways that people will tell you to get what you want in life. I'm just going to tell you, go get it. I'm serious. You decide what you want, you go get it.
But how? Doesn't matter. What are the steps, Scott? Doesn't matter. We'll talk more about that stuff later this week. It really doesn't matter. What matters is you decided what you want, and now you get out of bed and you say, that's it, I'm going to get it.
It's like you're going shopping. Got to go to the store, get some milk and some beer. That's it. What did you go to the store for? Needed some milk and some beer.
Well, you don't need that much beer. I know. Decide what you want and go get it. So no matter what self-help, no matter what you're trying to believe, no matter what system you have put in place, no matter how much you ask AI to tell you how to do stuff, and please don't spend too much time doing that, it'll give you so much due you'll never be able to make a decision.
It comes down to this. You decide what you want. You go get it. No but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but. There's going to be a lot of buts. a lot of overwhelm, a lot of confusion, a lot of paths you can take.
It does not take away from the fact you must just go get it. And anybody that you see that has really achieved something in their world just did that. They decided what they wanted and they went after it and got it done.
So we can take it down to that simple. So if I'm writing on your mirror today, what do I want? I'm going to decide what I want and go get it. That's what I write down.
Everything comes down to kind of one sentence, I think. Everything comes down to the step you take and your willingness and ability to take those steps.
That's about it. If you're going to decide the thing you want to create, the step, and we'll just call it a step, and then your willingness to actually go after it and go make it happen no matter what happens, no matter what gets in the way, that's kind of the whole thing. And again, most people say, oh, well, Scott will tell me exactly how.
I don't think anybody can. I'll see you tomorrow.
