What is happening? Come on in here. Good to have you here today. Thanks for stopping in. So I've been married twice in my life. I'm what they call a relationship guy.

Ladies, just so you know, that's me. Never been a dater kind of guy. I've dated two women in my life. All the women go, two women, oh, so sweet. All the men go, what? Yeah, two women.

I probably dated about maybe 18 months or two years of my life. That was it. Met a woman, said that'll do. Married her. Then she decided to pass away on me.

You know, it's been 20 years. I've got to think of it in some way, right? And then I met Joy, and Joy came along, and I said, well, that'll do. And they're both beautiful, and they're both great. It's

been fantastic. Been a very lucky man. But I've learned something from my wives, some wisdom, and I tend to listen to women when they speak. a lot, and I tend to rely on their wisdom quite a bit.

I've been impacted. In fact, I mostly only hire women. I don't mean not to hire men, but I mostly hire women. Not even sure why I do that. So today we share some wisdom of the wife with you, okay?

It is a daily boost from motivationtomove.com. It's me, Scott Smith, nearly 20 years of doing this show one day at a time. It's a pretty simple mission.

I, you know, first of all, have to give myself something to do every single day, right? That's the big thing, I guess. Come on, let's be real. But really, truly, it's all of us need a little bit of a

boost. And the boost is not always just motivation. Motivation is fantastic. I love it. I believe in it. I think it's a big part of what we do. But at the same time, sometimes we just need a practical

tip. Sometimes we need somebody to speak the truth. Sometimes we need somebody to say it in a way maybe you haven't heard it before. I'm not going to edit myself. Well, that's a lie.

I know what I'm doing. I know what words to say and not to say. I usually massively mess up. But for the most part, you're going to get the complete truth out of me.

And if it's a lie, I'm just going to stop everything and I 'm going to rerecord the show. I don't want to be caught 20 years later and say, you said this. I don't.

My job is very simple. I want you to take some control of your life. All the control you want. I want you to have the freedom you want to have. I want you to literally say, hey, this is what I have in

mind and I want to go do it. And if you don't have an idea what you want to do, I want you to figure it out. That's my driving mission, whether you're in business or it

's just your life. Okay. Which is why, by the way, I have my Face Your Passion group . When you're frustrated, when you're challenged, when you can't figure stuff out,

you don't know what the next step is. Maybe you're there, maybe you do, and you just can't figure out how to get it done. Maybe you're at the other side of it.

You're building a legacy and you're like, man, my legacy is up to this point. I don't want to be known for that when I die. Maybe so. It's that. And we just take the time to figure it out.

It's a fantastic group. I'm getting text messages all morning. We have a call today and they've been fantastic. These are live coaching calls. I get on.

I work with people for about 90 minutes. It's a fun call and people are realizing it now and they're firing up and they're texting me. Well, not texting me.

They're on my group, right? If you want to do this, go to faceyourpassion.com. Just jump on in. Give it a shot. The Founders Special lasts until October 18th at 12

midnight. talk about founders anymore. Yay, Scott will stop talking about this thing. But you'll be in and you'll save some money and you'll get some real growth and real benefit

and you'll be my best friend forever. And the rest of y'all will come in and you'll have to pay more money. You'll wish you had gotten in earlier and you 'll say, well, Scott,

can I be your best friend too? And I say, well, I don't know. You kind of ignored me the first month. Faceyourpassion.com. By the way, if you haven't realized it,

I've got a pretty wicked sense of humor sometimes. So it's the wisdom of the wife. Did you actually look or did you just open the fridge and scan the stair?

This happened to me three days ago because I said, I'm hungry. I need to find some food. She said, did you look? I looked. I had it open. I don't know.

I couldn't figure it out. So she said, there's plenty of food in there. I said, to me, the good food, she has food in the fridge. She has it in the pantry.

She has it in the freezer. To me, the good stuff is at the grocery store and it's on the aisle. She won't go down. That's where the good stuff is for me, but she says there's

good food in here. And then she started pointing some things out that were in there, and I didn't see them. But I think a lot of people in life do the same thing.

Do you do this? Do you skim through your problems? You could be looking right at them and not even see them. Do you kind of glance at a bank statement, a calendar, a

client list, things that have to be done? You just glance over it, forget about it? Or do you slow down and actually look? The answer is usually hiding behind the milk.

And I hate milk, so I never look at it. Yeah, I don't drink milk. It happened in first grade. A first grade cafeteria lady maybe drank milk, and I threw

up. Haven't liked it ever since. Tomatoes are the same thing for me. Do not give me a tomato, I will bite. Number two, you're not tired, you're hungry.

My wife says to me all the time. In her case, I say, you're not tired, you're hangry. Yes, she is. I've never heard a man say he's hangry, ever in my entire

life. I've heard plenty of women say they're hangry. Hmm. But I blame bad moods on all kinds of things. The economy, a client, the weather, Wi-Fi's not working.

It was a sandwich. Many years ago, I worked in morning radio. I did a, I was a news guy for about six months. Thought I'd give it a try, be a journalist and all that

stuff. Didn't really work out. As you can probably tell, it's not my, it's not really in my wheelhouse. But the guy I worked with, his name was Barry.

He had done mornings forever. And morning people don't sleep that much. You get up at three o'clock in the morning, it's kind of hard to get a lot of sleep, right?

And he said, listen, man, I've learned something. If I don't get sleep, I have to eat. Otherwise, I get sleep and I don't eat that much. That's why morning guys are mostly fat.

Anyway, food is important, right? So keep yourself nourished along the way. And I've learned that from both my wives. They've taught me to be very consistent with my nutrition.

I don't on the weekends, but I try. Number three, just because you said it on a podcast doesn't mean you do it at home. Huh, 20 seasons of motivation.

Yeah, my grudge still looks like a yard sale most days. It's really true. Listen, man. Knowing something and doing it are two different. skill sets. And yes, I get on this podcast. I do walk my

talk. I really live it as much as I possibly can, but I'm a hot mess half the time, just like you are. That's probably the biggest reason I do the podcast because I'm constantly working on

myself and this is a great way for me to work on it. But the people closest to you see the gap. And if they call you out, don't defend it. Just close the gap.

As a guy who does a lot of coaching, people who enter into a relationship with me, I see my role as one thing, testing and validation. I'm going to call you out on stuff. I'm going to check and

see how you feel about it. If you defend it, it's like, okay, that's your thing, man. I'm not going to fight you if you want to do it. But if you don't defend it, then I'm going to

say, well, let's see if we can close that gap. Go to the doctor, Scott. Not next week. Not if it still hurts. You should do the same thing. The lesson I take from that is, you know, waiting doesn't

make anything go away. It just makes it usually more expensive and more painful, right? And that definitely goes for your health, it goes for your car, it goes for conversations you

been putting up. It goes through your relationship with your wife, by the way, always. So from a man, it's like, go to the doctor. I don't want to go to the doctor.

I just don't. It's always bad. They poke, they prod. And I 'm a healthy guy. I just don't like it. It's just a doctor bedside manner. It makes you feel like you're going to die,

even though they say, oh, you're good. It's weird. I'm a guy. My wives have also said, nobody asked you to fix it. I just want you to listen. Should have done this one first, right? I've been working

on this for many, many years. I think I'm in an intermediate stage right now. I'm not that good at it. My mouth obviously is probably ten times as capable as my

two ears. When I do a podcast. But you know, most wives are not looking for you to fix anything. In fact, most people are not. As a coach, when I deal with people who are learning to be

a coach, there's an affliction that happens with people that are a brand new coach. They can't stop coaching. They won't even ask you. You just open your eyes.

Oh, can I talk to you about this? At least say, can I coach you on this? But they don't do it. I've just learned over time to shut. Sit up and listen.

Sometimes they go, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. My wife teasing me on that. She goes, mm-hmm, right back at me. It's kind of weird. Number five, write it down because you won't remember.

I've been told that many, many times. My wife has a pencil and a paper and a lot of post-it notes . She actually writes with pencil and paper. It's so weird.

I've not, and she writes in cursive too. It's cryptic code. She does the cursive, so I can't read it. This is why I teach planning for a living. But I also forget why I walked in the kitchen.

Your brain's for thinking. It's not for storage. It's for thinking in real time. Now, the storage is way in the backside. Don't put the minutiae of this, okay?

Yes, obviously, it's for storage. But for the most part, if you just write stuff down, you get out of your brain. In many cases, we call this, we close a loop on it.

We download our brain. A lot of studies have been done on this. If you write it down, you don't have to remember it anymore, do you? So put it in a safe, trusted place

where all you have to do is remember where all your stuff is. I've said it many times. I use Todoist. I put stuff in there, I have, I use Obsidian for my notes.

I don't have to remember anything except where I keep my notes. That's it. My brain's over there. Put the phone down. You're here. But you're not here.

It turns out I'm listening. But it doesn't count if I'm scrolling. I joked a minute ago about going, mm-hmm. My wife would say something to me. I'll be scrolling.

I go, mm-hmm. And she'll go, mm-hmm. I'm in trouble. It just happened. Might not get the call for dinner. That's not a want, that's a need. I've heard this before with my wives.

I say it every time I'm researching motorcycle accessories. Now, wants aren't bad, right? But just be honest about which ones you're buying into, okay?

Calling a one a need is how budgets really fall apart. It causes all kinds of problems. And if I can take you inside a little bit more, one of the things that I do in my world here,

I know when we do this podcast, when I deliver things to you on this podcast, when I'm talking to you about stuff, I'm literally giving you what you want.

Now, deep down inside, you feel a need and you're searching and you're waiting for me to get to the solution to your need. But to get you to listen, I have to give you what you want,

which is why the titles sometimes are like, what? Because I'm just going to give you what you want. Coaching clients, I'm going to give them what they want when they come in the door.

But what they don't know is I'm searching for what they need and I'm going to give them the sugar and the medicine at the same time. That's some wisdom you should take away there.

Go to bed, nothing ever comes from answering good, nothing ever good comes from answering an email at 11.30 at night. Tired decisions are bad decisions.

Just go to bed, let's get some sleep, let's deal with it in the morning. I've heard this many, many times. I've given the advice myself. You'll feel better after the ride.

I don't argue that one, by the way. We call it wind therapy. I like to ride motorcycles a lot. Riding motorcycles since I was 16 years old. I'm out there, I ride well, I ride safe,

I have a good time with it. But you know, sometimes you got to get away from thing that 's causing the thing. And sometimes that's jumping on a motorcycle or going

fishing or just kind of Taking a walk around the block or playing with your dog or whatever. You'll feel better after you do the thing. So if you get stuck, if you're feeling stranded someplace,

go do the thing that makes you feel better, okay? It's really simple stuff. I can probably go on for the next five hours of things that they've said to me over time.

That's what came to me today. What's your got? I gave you some wisdom of the dude. Found your special, FaceYourPassion.com. Ends this Sunday at 12 midnight.

Don't lose out, come join me. you
