How are you? Come on in here. Good to have you here today. I was at the gym this morning talking to Jacob. Jacob said, I know Jacob fairly well. He said, Scott, I hear you talking about this reinvention thing sometimes.
I don't want to really do the reinvention thing totally, but is there a way I could start and not fail? Because sometimes you stumble, right? I said, yeah, there is.
So I had a little conversation with him when I got back to the office. I just jotted it all down. I'm going to share that with you today. Some things you can use if you just want to get started without tripping over yourself.
It is a daily boost from MotivationToMove.com, the positive boost you need every single day. My name is Scott Smith. Good to have you here today. Thanks for coming in.
I've been busy. Man, oh, man. Oh, by the way, did I tell you? Operation Reinvention, something a lot of you have asked me about and sent me tons of notes on.
Because I kind of been teasing it for a little while that I was going to do it. The truth is I made a decision a couple of months back. I noticed something.
I noticed that people needed Operation Reinvention, but some follow-up as well. And I also noticed in my Face Your Passion program, they needed a starting point. So one day I woke up and I said, wait a second, we'll just make Operation Reinvention the starting point for Face Your Passion. And that'll be the kickoff for everything.
So that's what we're going to do. So you know I'm opening the new Face Your Passion school group. We open on Thursday, September 17th. About a week after we open, we are going to start Operation Reinvention, the live experience, coaching with me, taking you through the entire process.
It'll run about six weeks. I haven't got the last week done yet. But in early November, it's going to be done. So you're going to get done just as the holidays kick in, and you are going to learn so much and really be ready to maybe sit down in November, December, do some great year-end planning, and get ready to rock it in 2027.
So if you want to do that with me, you can join the school group at the founding price of $49 a month. You keep the price forever. Once we hit 100 folks, I double the price.
That's when we do it, start running ads, start putting people at a higher price. But you guys are special forever if you're a founder. So just go to faceyourpassion.com and tell me, give me your email address. Let me notify you.
I won't spam you. I don't do that. We'll notify you. We'll open early. You'll get the price. I will say this. If I don't hit 100 right away when we open,
Then what I'm going to do is give it a couple of days, and then I'll just shut it down and raise the price anyway. So it's not going to go on forever, but my guess is we'll sell out fairly quickly. So go over there right now, okay?
All right, let's get into this. Let me frame this for you. Have you ever done anything, decided to do something, and then you failed? You changed your mind.
You tripped. You stumbled. You bumbled. You wondered why. Why did I do that again? There's a lot of reasons for it. But as a guy who's done this, I've done the podcast now.
We're coming up on the end of our 20th season. I've been coaching probably 30 years now, studying this stuff forever. I have tens of thousands of hours in the chair, clinical hours, tens of thousands of them.
I just see things now. And a few things I noticed. So let me give you those things I noticed about what you need to do if you're going to make some change in your life.
Some of this you can apply today. In fact, you probably apply it just as I'm talking to you. Number one, so obvious. I almost shouldn't say it, but I need to.
You must decide, in my case, to face your passion. You must decide to make the change. If you don't decide, it's not going to happen. If you decide halfway, it's halfway not going to happen.
If you decide sorter, sorter, it's going to be a sorter, sorter happen. When you decide something gets done, it gets done, doesn't it? Lots of times when it comes to personal growth and little small changes about things, oh, I'm going to eat good starting tomorrow. You decide, and then tomorrow comes, and hmm.
So if you don't decide, you're not going to get it. The day you do decide, it's going to happen so fast, it'll be scary for you. And that might be one of the reasons you don't want to decide, right?
Not ready to go yet. Who knows what can happen? Well, whatever you decided is going to happen, so make it a good thing. Just saying. What's next? Understand why you want to change.
Now, I'm not a guy that puts the why up in front often. I put it there for a reason. But there's two levels to understanding why you want the change. Number one, the things going on in your life, good and bad.
That's probably driving this, right? I think on the surface level, that's what we have. So do you understand exactly what's kind of bugging you, what you want to change or what you want to bring into your life? Do you understand that?
It is amazing to me how many people have not even thought about it. Well, things are, yeah, I mean, I guess they're okay. And they don't give me a real answer. If you don't have a specific answer, how do you change it?
So you have to know that. And secondly, what's the meaning behind what you're doing? You hear me talk about passion, purpose, meaning, and legacy. So passion is something you stumble upon.
You get your interest and that leads to purpose. Purposefully, you go after things. Eventually, you have meaning and a legacy is formed. So maybe one day you stumble across pickleball and then eventually your purpose is to get out of bed and go play pickleball.
And finally, you're the winner in the open matches and pickleball has real meaning to you. And then you die one day and your kids say, man, they love pickleball. You have a legacy.
So if you're going to make a change, I want to know kind of, well, what's the deal? Are you looking for more meaning? Are you looking for just to be more interested in life? Are you looking for legacy?
What are you looking for? If we had that, we have drive behind it. And if we have drive behind it, that decision gets easier to keep going. How about the what?
Well, when I have a what, I always base it on the peaceful base. Peaceful base to me is things like time and money and relationships and spirituality, health.
Is that all good? What do I want to make better? Usually when people want to make a change, it's because some of the foundation of their peaceful base is rocked a little bit. It's cracked.
So I want to ask you, okay, so is it money? You okay? I'm good with money, but my health needs some help. Okay, great. Now we know what to work on. Also, I tell people to work on additive.
Usually I'm a subtractive guy. I take things away from life, so we simplify. But when it comes to changing and reinventing, I have learned over time that additive is better. Because if I add a new good habit in, a new behavior,
You simply don't have time for the old habit. And that's the best advice for breaking an old habit or old behavior. Add something new that's better. It's like, well, I don't have time to work out.
Well, start finding time to work out. Whatever is filling your time and wasting your time and making you fat will go away. Add something into it. Subtracted comes later.
Subtracted comes later once you realize that, hey, I added something new. It's good for me. I think I'll get rid of that other stuff that was bad for me. And it becomes very easy to get rid of the habit when you don't need it anymore.
And something even bigger. We talk about this a lot in the business world. Know what your outcome will be. It is amazing to me how many people reinvent themselves and don't really understand what the whole outcome is going to be.
When I get through this transition I'm going through, I will be here. They don't do it. It's like, I don't even get it. Sometimes it's like, that's happy or something.
You need to really understand what are you trying to make yourself? Now, this is not hard to do, but you can see that it takes a little bit of thinking. If I were to work with you, and we'll likely go through this when we teach operation reinvention again, I will spread it out a little bit, give you more time, give you some exercises to work through. But you can see that I've gone through four of these things now, and you could spend an hour on each of them.
Easy. It takes some time. So don't ever push this too fast. People always want this outcome, boom, boom, boom, and I want to give it to you as soon as I can.
But what happens is we can get little bitty outcomes along the way, and then they begin to stitch together. And after a month, you get the big one you want.
Anyway, decide the outcome, okay? Now, finally, I want to talk about accountability and assigning it to the person that really counts here, you. So I know I work in personal growth, and I'm going to say this. This is all about you.
And a whole bunch of you out there is, oh, Scott, you can't think that way. We have to include other people. We have to have other people to have our success. We have to take care of other people.
Think about others first. Hey, I do. Man, do I ever. And I love doing it. And it gets me everything I need. But sometimes it gets me things that don't need too.
Listen, you take in the breath and you let out your own breath, right? You're responsible for yourself. If you want to change something, the day you sit down and say, it is up to me, I'm just going to make it happen no matter who helps me or doesn't help me. It doesn't matter.
It's just going to happen. If you break free of that loving cage you're in, if you break free of the fact that you think that you as a person are incredibly valuable to every place you go and you couldn't possibly change because everybody appreciates you so much. When you understand that in most cases, it's not the case. They love you, but they really like what you do.
They like you being around. At the end of the day, they're more important. Again, a lot of people want to understand this. I don't bring it from a standpoint of being mean or looking down on anybody.
I simply understand that If you want to change something, you're likely trapped. And if you're trapped, it's going to come down in large part to the people around you and the situations you're in.
So I assign accountability back to you. Not to me. If you join us, I'll be in the coaching group and I'll hold you accountable. If you ask me to, I'll come back and say, hey, you said you were going to do this, right?
If you say, yeah, whatever, I don't care. It's up to you. I can't do anything to make you change. I'll just nudge you a little bit along the way. That's all I can do.
But some people, man, they go boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. And I want to put up a pedestal and just cheer them on because I watch what they did. Finally, there's one more thing I think you need to do.
Just got to commit, start moving. No fixing to get ready. I don't mind if you're like, well, okay, I'm listening to Scott on a Tuesday. Let me just get my thoughts together and Monday I'll do it.
That's okay with me. That's fine. But don't say Monday and then don't do it. Just say Monday and then do it. Okay? Just commit. Just get into it. Every time you feel the urge to stop, you got to resist.
You got to remember where you're heading, the outcome you put out there. Remember that you're the boss of you. There's a little trigger happening. If you have a bad habit or a bad, something really nasty you shouldn't be doing, there's a little trigger that arrives, right?
And you see it coming. You're like, well, I can deny it or I could just do it again. And these are the situations where when you feel the trigger coming on, if you've gone through all this and understand why you're doing this and what you're trying to do, you should be able to just kind of push it back and say, no, no, no, no, no, I'm good.
I'm going to keep going this way. I told you, kind of an overview on the top view, and this stuff takes time. That's why when you hang around with people who think this way, you just become like this. You just got to figure out how to do it.
And little by little and faster than you think, you become who you want to be. Maybe I can help FaceYourPassion.com. Get on that list. Let me tell you how to save some money.
Then get inside. Let's work together. Let's do Operation Reinvention together this time. I'll see you tomorrow.
