Meine Zehen bringen mich um. Diese Schuhe sind viel zu eng. Trägst du immer noch diese spitzen Dinger? Ich meine, sind nicht alle Laufschuhe so geformt?
Nein, du brauchst Altras. Altras? Altras sind geformt wie deine Füße. Mit einer fußförmigen Zehenbox. Einfach viel bequemer. Bezwinge deinen Lauf mit Hallenzehen.
Okay, das klingt traumhaft. Mehr Komfort, Kraft und Dynamik. Alles durch die Passform. Altra versteht das einfach. Altra, stay out there. Es ist alles, was ich habe.
And what's freaky about it is every now and then I get emails from people saying, Scott, I'm still being more gooder than badder. So I'm going to dive in and tell you, if you can do that, life gets a whole lot easier for you. Give us some examples today, okay? It is a daily boost from motivationtomove.com.
The positive boost you need every single day. It's me, Scott Smith. Good to have you. Here we are in our 20th season, man. Can you believe we're going to wrap up 20 years right around Christmas time?
Crazy stuff, man. It's been going on for so long. It's been so much fun. Nice to have you here today. People ask, because we're going to be opening this community, and I haven't had a community for a long time.
And the reason I wanted to do it, it's more than just a community. It's like-minded people for darn sure. We want that. Vielen Dank. We believe life is going to get in the way.
Why? Because it always has. It always will. We're not negative about that. We suspect it to happen. And thirdly, because we know how we're going to respond to it.
No matter what happens, we're going to say, okay, stand up, take a step, repeat, keep going until we get what we want. Why will we stop before we got there anyway?
What do I do? Doesn't matter. Stand up and let's go. Which is in the community what we'll be doing. We'll be kind of teaching those things. So the whole goal is to have that philosophy, have a bunch of cool people that have that philosophy, have some fun with it.
And when life gets in the way, let's smack it down. I'll tell you more about it. There will be a big Founders special. We're launching all at one time.
I'll tell you what day we're going to launch. There'll be nobody in there. And then there'll be everybody in there. That's how we're going to do it. So get ready.
I'll tell you more next week, okay? All right, let's get into this thing that I made up a long time ago, this more gooder than bader. I bring this up because it really is something that I live every single day. I live it in everything that I do constantly.
Joy and I, my wife, we talk about this constantly, about how everything in moderation, something's in excess. I push the excess thing a little hard sometimes, but generally speaking, when you follow this more gooder than bader philosophy, life just gets really simple for you, and you tend to get what you want.
Years ago, when I started talking about this, I thought, man, what is this thing? Be more gooder than better. Who would say that? Well, I would. The fact is, I would, and I would use it.
But I would get these emails, these CEOs from very fancy companies, these people that fancy email addresses and all that stuff, right? Really fancy languaging. And they're like, man, I get up at four o'clock in the morning to go run my big company, and I just realized it's all about be more gooder than better. And that's happened a lot.
And over the years, while I haven't talked about it here, I've heard so many comments from emails. It's a simple little thing. So I take the time to say that to you because sometimes, you know, come here real close, real close to me. You've done this stuff, right?
You've listened to a freaking podcast. You've been to seminars. You've read all the books. You've got atomic habits memorized. You know your why. You got all that stuff figured out, right?
And still doesn't freaking work. AI is not going to help you either. So I say, let's use actual intelligence instead, like a humankind, okay? Let me give you some examples, see if this resonates for you.
Be more good than better. Sleep. Go to bed a little bit earlier. More nights than you stay up late. You'll stop being tired. I know. Just going to bed a little bit earlier consistently, it changes everything.
How about money? Everybody wants fast money. Saving a little more often than you splurge. You're not going to be broke, are you? And you still get to splurge.
That's the cool part of it. I know, it's not fancy. It's not sexy. A lot of you already know this. I call it my peaceful base. What is a peaceful base?
It's basically being more gooder than better. That's it. It doesn't mean being perfect all the time. I went to Las Vegas recently. I wasn't perfect. You didn't hear it from me.
How about water? Drink water more often than the other stuff. Your body will figure out the rest. I know some of y'all out there about drink coffee a lot, man.
There's water in coffee. I drink Coke all the time. There's water in Coke. I drink beer, a lot of water in beer. Your body knows the difference. I was saying don't drink the other stuff.
I'm just saying like an 80-20 rule. If 80% of the time you're making sure you get your water, And 20% of the time you're drinking the other stuff. Cool, no problem.
How about marriage? Say nice things to your wife rather than sharp things. 30 years later, guess what? You're still married. I know. It's so simple.
Einfach viel bequemer. Bezwinge deinen Lauf mit Hallenzehen. Okay, das klingt traumhaft.
Mehr Komfort, Kraft und Dynamik. Alles durch die Passform. Altra versteht das einfach. Altra, stay out there. How about the phone? Put it down more than you pick it up.
You notice your life has been that kind of happening around you the entire time. I'll put one in here I didn't even have on my scribbled out list here. AI. Stop listening to it.
Stop arguing. I love it. Listen, I really do. I think it's a great tool. I use it all the time. But sometimes I smack it down and say, would you shut up?
You're stupid. Put it away. Walk away from it. Use your brain. I talked to my buddy this morning, Billy. Billy said, I'm back to paper and pencil. You'd be surprised how many people are back to paper and pencil.
Me too, by the way. Still using AI for my job. Absolutely. How about work? Do the hard things first more consistently than you don't. Your afternoons get easy.
Yeah. If you consistently just said, let me get my stuff done, the important stuff done, more than you didn't get it done, you see how life can change? How about friends? If you reach out a little bit more consistently than maybe waiting for them to reach out to you,
You have better friendships. A lot of them. How about your mood? If you choose better thoughts just more often than you choose the other ones, nobody's happy all the time, but it's kind of a volume game, right?
If I just do it more, doesn't it make sense? You know where this first started? Many, many years ago, I was trying to explain to people, I would say, this was Scott's philosophy, when it came to fitness, say, here's the fitness deal.
The government would say, work out most days of the week. That's government ease for we have no idea what we're talking about. But they were on to something, right? Workout most days of the week.
So I use ScottLogic. I just dove into my brain and I said, well, okay, what's most days of the week? Four. Right? It's most days of the week. It's four.
It's also more than three because most people say they're going to exercise three days a week. Well, there's seven days of the week. So if you exercise three days a week, what are the chances of you actually getting in shape? Not much.
If you exercise four days a week, more than half the week, you're naturally, you're being a little more gooder now. What are the chances? They've gone up exponentially. What if you happen to be a bad boy, a bad girl, and you do five days a week?
Life changes. You're really more gooder than better, and you're still goofing off for two days. By the way, no cheating on the weekend if you do that, okay? It's not good.
How about kids? Show up more than you miss with the kids. Just lean into it a little bit more. You don't have to count them. You don't have to get crazy with it.
Just get the habit of saying, you know, I'm here more than I'm not. I'm giving more attention more than I'm not. Just to balance. How about learning? I read a lot.
Somebody accused me the other day and said, you don't read much, do you? I said, what? Who the hell are you? You don't strike me as a reader. I sometimes read eight hours a day.
Are you kidding me? You think I get this stuff? You think I was born with this stuff I know? Okay, you're right, I was. I pretend the entire time. No, I read, I study.
I read every single day. I don't miss a day with reading. I read at least probably three books a month at least. Sometimes more. How many do you read?
I don't want to ask. Walking. Do you take the stairs more than the elevator? When you park in the parking lot, do you park at the back? Or do you park at the front?
My wife parks at the front. She gets the closest possible space. She gets mad at me. I get the one that's furthest away. I don't know why she's in better shape than I am.
Can't figure that out yet still. Oh, wait a second. I do spend some of my time in that batter phase. She never spends any time there. How about complaining?
Yeah, it's pretty interesting. I'm not going to say don't do it. There's a place and a time for complaining. Absolutely. Absolutely. Say thanks more than you gripe, though.
That's kind of cool, right? People start wanting to be around you. And listen, I'm a big fan. Some people say to me all the time, I get in your face, I get really practical sometimes.
I'll say, yo, that's not very motivational. Sure it is. You're just not hearing it that way. Complaining is not always negative. Don't worry about that, but just don't do it all the time.
But there is a place and time for everything. A friend of mine a long time ago, I already mentioned it once in this conversation. He said, moderation in almost everything.
Excess in a few things. Being more gooder than better is just that. And so this is the whole thing here. A lot of people listen to this kind of program and they'll think, what's the actual framework?
What's the methodology behind this? I just told you, be more gooder than better. That means that every single time you do something, just think, hmm, where am I?
Take a little inventory. That's it. No fancy stuff, no methodology, no framework. You people that want me to literally take what I just did for you and say, okay, here's a framework to teach you how to be more gooder than better.
I have no time. I am so sorry. But today, if you'll just say, I'm going to do what Scott said. I'm sitting down in front of the french fries. I'm going to have the french fries.
But I'm not going to do what Scott used to do. See, Scott used to fall face first in a basket of french fries. And that's how I stayed fat for a very long time. And eventually what I learned is, well, don't fall face first into it and order the smaller one.
Have a few and give the rest away. Or maybe, maybe possibly, not order them. Then I had to hold myself back from ordering onion rings, too. But you get the point, okay?
Just pull back just a little bit. And then come the weekend, maybe every three or four weeks, fall face first into it and have a great time. Yeah, why not? That's called living.
All right, guys. Community is coming up. You have a great weekend. And we'll see you on Monday morning right here on the Daily Boost.
