This is the Daily Boost podcast with Scott Smith. Yes, it is. The nicest renegade you'll ever meet. It's a nickname somebody gave me a long time ago, and I
kind of like it. I'm out this weekend. My wife says to me, you are really living up to your nickname, aren't you? And I said, how can you tell? And she said, well, when you're smiling so much your eyes
are smiling, I know you're up to something. Yeah, yeah, I was. I didn't tell her what it was. It involves a credit card, and I just want to wait until
another day, maybe. Good to have you. It is me, Scott. Hope you had a great weekend. Fall on the way. I can feel it. I just, this weekend, I live in Daytona Beach.
It's really hot here. It's like, it's like, it's like hell here is what it is. It's just hot and humid, right? And yet there's a time in July when I feel a little bit of
shift in the air, a little shift in the direction, the winds. I feel a little shift in the humidity. Nobody else can feel it, but I can. Maybe I'm just hopeful and optimistic.
I'm like, fall's coming. In October. Maybe November, but I can feel it's on the. away. Today, the I, the I, and the L. Now, this is something I talk about all the time with my
clients. In fact, I would say this is probably what I work with all my clients. I've had a list of clients forever. This is what I do. There's lots of in- between things that we do, but this is what
it comes down to. The I, income. The other I, impact. The L , lifestyle. Income, impact, lifestyle. It always comes down to that, no matter what I do. Own a business,
don't own a business, doesn't really matter. We're always working for that. Toss in a little time compression, which is probably the biggest thing that I help people with.
See, if I can talk to you about income, impact, and lifestyle, that's cool. And you're like, man, how do I get there? Give me the shortcut, please. Well, we just do some time compression and you can do it.
We just cut out the stuff that you don't need, the subtract ive element of life. Just do that instead of additive. And suddenly the income, the impact, and the lifestyle gets
faster. It's a cool thing. We'll talk about that today. By the way, it's a cool time of year too. Because usually I have a couple of coaching spots open on
my calendar about July and August, and I do again. If you are interested in talking about this kind of thing we'll talk about today, and you've heard me for a while, and you think,
hmm, I wonder if I could work with him or wonder if he could help me. If you thought that, the answer is probably yes. So send a note to coaching at motivationtomove.com.
Just say, hey, man, this is what I want to do, thinking about working together with you. Just send me a quick note. Make it simple. Don't go crazy with it.
I will get back to you, and we'll figure it out. Okay, a couple of openings right now. They won't last long, a couple of weeks maybe before I fill those openings.
Coaching at motivationtomove.com. So let's get to it. Income, impact, lifestyle. So every single goal lives at an intersection of three things. You have an idea because I just kind of mentioned three
things, right? Now, why do I start with a big goal? Because I believe a real big goal is the key here. Now, small little goals you might have don't live at the
intersection of impact, income, and lifestyle. They just don't. But the big goals certainly do. Now I'm a believer in this. The big, big goal. The goal should be so big
that you almost can't see a ceiling to it because I stop on goals. When I set a goal, if I see a ceiling, if I get trapped in a cage, if I do this and I get stuck there,
I don't want to start. I won't even set a goal until I'm like, man, there is just no ceiling. I never get trapped. I literally can take this and scale all I want to.
That's where I get a goal that's really important to me. And when I find one of those, I run with it. I have one right now, by the way. You'll hear about it soon.
But here's the other part of that. When I find a goal that big, it scares the crap out of me. I start looking at what I have to do. I'm going, man, are you serious?
I can do this, but I got to do that? And it's really scary and yet exciting at the same time. When I find something like that, I fire up, and you should too.
And I can help you do that, by the way, if you just chat with me sometime, okay? So it lives at this intersection of what you earn, the mark you leave, and the life that you live while you do
it, okay? so i I lead with revenue. Now, some people get mad at me. It's not that it matters most, but it certainly clarifies things. It gets you there faster
, doesn't it? Because I've seen too many people in my life, I've helped thousands of people now, with that exact same thing, income, impact, and lifestyle.
Why does it lead with income? Very simple. People come to me and they say, Scott, I want to have an impact on the world. I say, great, what's your idea? And they tell me. I go, great, let's go do it. Let's build
it. Make an influence or whatever you want to be, okay? How much money you got? Not that I want the money. That's not the point. I want the runway. It's like,
how long do you have to make this work? I can last maybe three weeks. I've heard that before. I said, let's don't even start. You're not ready. You need more. Or at least you have to make money right
away. So it just becomes so important. I cannot tell you how many dreams, either impact or lifestyle dreams, are sitting on the shelf right now because people
didn't have the income part figured out. So that's why we start there. Not because it matters most, Family, your friends, God, all that stuff, they matter a whole lot more than the money.
But you got to have the money to get these things to happen , right? It's 20, 26 these days. Just can't get there otherwise. So if you run the actual numbers, not the vibe, right?
Real figures with taxes and monthly burn and all that kind of stuff, you can almost always figure out what you need to be doing. Have you done that? Lately, I've had a bunch of people say they want a million
dollars liquid in the bank in like in anywhere from five to 10 years. We're hearing that number a lot. I think people are saving for retirement stuff.
If you're over 45, I mean, that's probably a number you want, right? Yeah, man, AI is here. My job is changing. If I could get a million bucks in the bank, if you can,
the math is pretty simple. If you haven't done it, do it. It is very possible. But you got to think it through right. You got to figure out that it's just not a vibe.
It's not an impact. It's not one lifestyle. It's actually a real thing. Get that done first and you're good. Now, the compression filter is really neat.
When we start looking at this, say we stay on that realm here. You want to have the impact and the lifestyle, but you need money to do it. Well, the bottom line is that we can compress this.
Instead of you saying, hey, ten years, man, I'll say let's do it. in two or three years. Why don't we do that? And what that does, it forces you kind of
to really look down about what it's going to take to get there. Because I promise you right now, there's a really good chance you listen to me right this very minute.
Have an idea. Something you want to do is something you want to go for, but you've not done the due diligence work on it. You haven't dug into it and said, okay, like I said,
what's the impact? What's the income? What's the lifestyle? What's that burn rate that I need to get there? You haven't done that yet. It scares you maybe.
Like I said, it's going to scare you if it's good. And if I may say this, just to be honest, when I get people on the phone or on a Zoom call with me,
I sometimes kind of, well, I do, I roll my eyes a little bit because I can't believe that somebody comes to me and wants to help figure out what like a burn rate is or how long is it going to take to
get there? And I get on it and I pull out a spreadsheet and we work it out and we go. And I'm like, did you not think of this first? So rule number one today, think about income first.
Think about money. You got it at the bank, you got income coming in, you got some annuity someplace, whatever it is, think about that first. Do the math.
Because if you don't do the math, the goal is mythical. It's not going to happen. Doing it once will turn that someday into a date on your calendar. It makes it real.
I promise you, the very minute you look at a goal that you think, wow, that's cool, I can do it, scares me a little bit, and I know how to get there and I can financially do it
and I have a pathway to make it happen. It happens. It's so magic. We'll talk about pathways later on this week. Okay, we'll get into that for you. Most people never do the math.
They wing it. Or worse, they put it on a credit card. God, I tell you how many times that's happened. People come to me, put me on a credit card, and it happens.
We take credit cards. That's what happens. But they come to me and they put on a credit card. They run up massive bills between me and all kinds of other
people and hoping the money's going to come. I don't want you to do that. I don't mind you doing it as long as you know where the money's going to come.
That's all. Let's be real about this, okay? What ends up happening is when you do this, you're kind of trading and trading off, I guess. You're kind of looking at all the pieces, all sides,
So maybe you can't do it today, maybe you can't do it tomorrow, but you say, hey. But I can do it on the third day because I stopped and looked at the money first.
So whatever goal you're doing today, let's think about it this way. Let's think about that you definitely have to have the income. Will you agree with me on that?
And if you look at a ton of money, would you please donate and help the world? Okay, that's what it's for. But you've got to have the income. So just be real and honest about it.
My guess is a big reason why you haven't stepped forward. If you are a person, for instance, everybody I work with right now, every single person except one is over 45 years old.
They're professionals moving into a business career themselves. They've had a great career. They've got a 401k. They've got money in the bank. They've got the whole darn thing.
And what they're worried about is how do I go from this to my own thing? Got it, man. It's a hard thing to do. But when we do the math, we can figure out how to get there
. It's just good old-fashioned financial planning attached to your dreams. That's all it is. So if you have something you want to be doing, that impact you want to have, that lifestyle you want to
live, I want a passive lifestyle so I can have the impact that I want. I do that, man. Listen, I work hard. Passive income is actually pretty hard to get.
But man, I get to have a lot of impact and I get to have a good income. So I want you to think that way, okay? Because surprise isn't just a number. It's not.
It's arriving at a place where you don't just have to take any job or do just anything. You actually get to do what you want to do. And it all begins when you just accept the truth
that it's going to be income, impact, and then lifestyle. Put that together and every dream you have absolutely can go. Okay, wait a second. Some of y'all got some dreams that should not come true. I
'm just telling you, all right, I'm just, all right, I gotta get out of here. You know why? Cause you're done with me, but I'll see you tomorrow, okay?
