Today, I'm going to dive into a little bit of a vision work. staying on vision, keeping a vision, when life gets in the way. And have you noticed it does that a lot? That's today's show.
It is the Daily Boost from MotivationToMove.com. The positive boost you need every single day. And help you take control of your business, help you take control of your life, help you grow both of them.
That's what I do. My name is Scott Smith. Good to have you here today. Just getting ready to be on a school call here in a few minutes. So much fun, man.
It's so much fun. My face your passion group, faceyourpassion.com if you want to go. It's just cool people. And then my inner circle, just cool people.
So many cool conversations. And you know, one thing I've done recently, I've stepped up in almost media agency kind of work. I've owned production companies over the years. I run a media company for myself and all the stuff I do, obviously a podcast.
I've got a media company as well as the coaching I do. And my clients were having such an issue and they were just having trouble moving in this economy. And I said, well, listen, okay, let's just take the old skill set and let's hire some people and let's build a team here and let's run a bit of an agency. Let's get you some leads and get you some business and get you some podcasts and get you some YouTube channels and things like that.
They're doing all the work. I'm just guiding them. It's been so much fun. It's so nice to free people, right? I mean, I've done it my whole life. It's like, I just know how to do it.
It's so cool to free them. Are you doing something like that? Where you get to do what you like to do, plus you get to help people too? I love that, man.
We call it going beyond the boost. If you ever want to do that, just go to motivation to move.com. No, kind of go with me and we'll see what we can do. There's some stuff there.
You'll like that. But today's show is not about that. Today's show is about you. Every show is about you. That's all that matters. You show up and you listen.
I'll make a promise. If you keep showing up and listening, I'll keep doing the shows for you. If you don't show up and listen, then I'll just go do something else.
Is that even possible? I don't even know. But how do you stay focused? on your vision when life gets in the way. A long time ago, I coined a phrase when I started my business, life begins when you move.
It is still the core of what I do. For all the fancy dancy stuff we have, all the strategies, all the, all for everything we've got, man, it doesn't matter how smart you are or what chat GP do you have. It does not matter. If you won't get off your ass and move, nothing happens.
And when I say get off your ass and move, it's not just physically. It's emotionally. It's everything. And so as much as we say, hey, we don't want to, man, I know everything.
I know how to do it. But then you don't do it. Life is going to get in the way. It's going to be a challenge. It's going to make you busy. And I got news for you.
The busier you get, the more successful you get. There's no quiet place at the end of this rainbow. Most people think if I work really hard, get really successful, then I'll have time to relax. No.
No. Because if you get good at what you do, people want you to do it more. Have you figured that out yet? It's the same thing with the job. If you don't like your job, but you're really good at your job, you're just going to keep doing it forever because nobody's going to let you do anything else.
That's how it is. That's why we have to be so careful with the vision that we cast and understanding where we're heading and stick to that vision. I call it personally the founder's vision.
That's what I call it. Founder is kind of cool. You think about this, are you a CEO? Are you a COO, a CMO, chief motivating officer? Like people call me sometimes.
That's kind of a technical thing. It's like you have legal forms, you have tax forms and things like that. You go CEO, right? What's a founder? It's like, that's really better.
So you're the founder of your business. You're the founder of your thoughts. You're the founder of you. Well, you didn't make yourself, but you're in control of you, right?
I mean, you took your first breath all by yourself and you will let out your last breath all by yourself. In between, you think you're not in control. You're the only one in control, period. So you're a founder.
So I like to call it a founder's vision. So do you have a way to, well, maybe an image in your mind of what you'd like your life or your business to be like?
Except then life gets in the way. Hear it all the time, man. Hear it all the time. A vast majority of my clients, honestly, they're just, they're like, they're doing great.
They're happy. They're proud. They're making money. They got employees. Everything's going great. And they're like, yeah, except life is getting in the way constantly.
When do I get to do what I wanted to do? Remember, I started the business because I wanted to do this and now I'm doing it. But what's this? It's interesting.
So if you have an image in your mind of what it's supposed to be like when life is not in the way, that's what we want to go to here. That's the vision. There is no doubt that daily life events, they have a really fun way of distracting us and you and that guy over there, especially him, from reaching his goals.
It's just too easy to put your goals and everything on the back burner, isn't it? That's why you need to become the keeper of your vision, your founder's vision.
Life does happen. Emergency situations come up. Things got to be dealt with. Happens all the time. And I think most of us spend most of our time pushing back those things.
Have you noticed some people, they attract those things to them? You have friends like that, don't you? It's like the arsonist lighting his own fire. The arsonist, I mean, being the fireman, right?
People say, Scott, I'm always running around putting out all these fires. I said, yeah, but you lit most of them. You know people like that? Can't get their act together no matter what.
And have you noticed too? And when I say they can't get their act together, you know, they're just hot messes, right? Have you noticed how their hot mess becomes your hot mess?
And suddenly you're helping them to do that. And you want to do it. You want to take care of people, but there comes a point in time where you don't want to enable them. Have you noticed that?
If you had a vision about how you handle things like that, if you had a vision of your life, if you had your founder's vision of what you were trying to build, how you want to live, what your values are, what your beliefs are, what you care for, who you care for. If you had that vision, if you sat down and wrote it down, and I know you might have done that. A lot of people do. But then you tuck it away someplace and you don't live it.
You do understand whatever vision you have, you're supposed to go live it. This is not some imaginary thing. This is not something where you say, well, I hope it's going to be someday. Guys, listen, you're in charge.
You can make it today. Everything changes in an instant. Have you figured that out yet? No, I can't. I have responsibilities. You haven't figured it out.
If you're in a car crash today and you are off for the big journey, everything changed. Everything changes in an instant. But when you're alive and breathing, you're thinking this stuff through and overthinking it too much. Suddenly it's like, well, I can negotiate the chain.
Oh, trust me. That's why you need a vision. We talked about boundaries and default behaviors earlier this week. But when you do this, when you do the work, you have to start living it.
People get mad at me all the time because I actually do walk my talk. I really do. They get mad at me when I say no or I say, nope, I do it this way. Well, I'm your customer.
I don't care. I just get a customer who respects me and does it my way. I'm not pushing it all. I'm just saying I have a vision about how I roll. I'm not going to change myself for everybody else.
Why would I do that? Why would you do that? I'm kind of fired up today for Friday, aren't I? Maybe I should pull back a little bit. You know, every single day, thousands and thousands of opportunities are going to arrive on your path.
The one you're walking right now. You might not even see most of them, but they're there. You are going to be detoured from what you want. That's why it's up to you to kind of guard your vision.
A very simple question can help you with this. Will this opportunity that's in front of me move me closer to the lifestyle, the business that I want, or further away?
Years ago, I was sitting in a Tony Robbins event. I think it was Date with Destiny. Yeah, I did that too. Who didn't, right? And the guy's been around forever.
And he talked about values, and everybody writes down their values. Write down your values. Make your big list of values. But once you notice, and I've done this professionally for such a long time now, I notice something.
When I ask you to write down your values, are you honest? Do you have integrity? Is it love? What is that kind of thing? I've noticed something. Everyone you write down tends to be to get away from something or to go to something.
You're writing on values that will take you away from what you don't like, and you're writing on values that will take you to what you don't like. What nobody does is write down the values they're living today.
In my daily awareness diary that I have inside my school group at faceyourpassion.com, the whole goal of that is to get your actual living values today. Because if we can ground you in the truth and reality, you know how you're living, in your business, in your life, and everything else. And then we can say, okay, well, let's set some values for where you want to go because we're going to have to grow into that, right? You're not going to take values that have been handed down by your parents and your teachers and everybody else over time and change them instantly.
You're not going to do that. It's going to take time to get there. But it begins by casting the vision. It's that simple. When you cast a vision of what your life is supposed to be like, every single part of it, and then literally lean into it and say, I'm going to go live this way.
And just give it the time to do it because you will change over time. Suddenly it will just be what you want it to be. And you will slowly undo everything that's going on around you that you don't like. And you get more of what you do like.
And in an ebb and in a flow, it just happens. That's just life. I can be as motivational as I want to be, but I can't not be practical. I can't not be honest.
I can't not be saying you've got the best thing going to the world for you, but that part sucks. Let's fix it. Scott can't do that. Sorry. So I want you to do this.
I want you to know your vision. I want you to defend your vision. I want you to live your vision. If you'll put a little time into that, your life will change.
If you're ready for that, that's what we call going beyond the boost. Grow your life, your business, take control. Go to motivation2move.com. Work with me directly.
