How are you? Well, happy, happy, happy, happy Friday. Hope you're doing okay today. I really do, man. I'm happy to have you. We just got off a call, an inner circle public call today, and had some learning about the anticipation engine and a peaceful base I'll share with you.
It is the Daily Boost from MotivationToBoom.com. It is me, Scott Smith. Good to have you. Thanks for stopping by. Come on in. Almost a weekend. Yeehaw.
I love myself a weekend. I do. Weekends are different. Even though I take Fridays and Mondays, I supposedly take them off. I use them for myself. So sometimes I'm a motivated kind of guy, which means it could be a Friday and I come up with an idea.
And before you know it, the entrepreneur in me kicks in and I'm working. But that's okay. I like doing it. Oh. So we did just do this inner circle call, public call, and it was all about the firing up your anticipation engine.
And I covered that really well. It was very nice to do. And then about 20 minutes into the call, I said, well, let's do some coaching here. Let's start talking.
And it became all about the peaceful base. And there were some commonalities on this call I want to share with you today. If you want to see this call, and you should, I know a lot of people work during the day, but we had a good number of people on.
Just go to motivation2move.com and you'll see workshop, probably say workshop replay. If it says workshop register, just click on it and I'll send you the replay, but it may not say it yet because I'm recording this show before we get that done.
Motivation2move.com. Let's get into it. Okay, so having done this for such a long time, what you learn very quickly is that everybody has the same issues.
If you ever think that you're the only one going through something, you're just not. Everybody's going through the same thing and the same fears and the same anxiety and the same joys and the same everything.
And so as we're going through this call today and I get through the anticipation engine and building a life worthy of anticipating, which people really want to do, and I believe you should. I believe you should be excited every single day to get up and get out of bed. Is that realistic? Yeah.
So let me tell you what happened here. Have you ever gone to a seminar or listened to a guy like me on a podcast? And I'm different. I mean, most, listen, I'm going to throw rocks at everybody right now.
Here's why. Because I think a long time ago, people started doing personal development. All the gurus showed up and maybe I'm in that category. I don't know.
But I learned very quickly I didn't fit. And the reason it didn't fit was because I was going to all these guru things. And have you spent thousands of dollars to have a guru teach you something?
and have all the self-help books and the whole thing. And what you realize is some of it works, some of it doesn't work, most of it's BS. And I'm going to go with Tim Ferriss on this right now. Tim Ferriss took a stand maybe two months ago, and I totally agree with it.
Love the fact that he did it. He said, the self-help industry keeps you broken. I have news for you. Any industry keeps you broken. Church keeps you broken.
They do. Because if you keep you broken, you keep coming back making donations, right? Self-help industry does not want to fix you. Pharmaceuticals don't want to fix you.
Then you don't buy medicine. So this is not a bad thing for me to say. I just said anything. If you have any money involved at all, if it's your livelihood, if you get power from it, it's going to stay.
You're never going to give it up. So the self-help industry kind of says, come on, you're not broken. We're going to fix you anyway. And before you know it, they give you stuff to do it, all the frameworks and blueprints and all the crap that I do too.
But the truth is some of the stuff really works and you have to have them at the right time in the right place. But you fail a lot too. You do. Let's be honest with you.
I'm not going to screw around here. How many times have you gone to something you thought was going to change your life and it didn't and you ended up screwed up the way you were before? I said it. I did just like that.
How many times have you written down in your journal something you wanted to do after a big event? And 10 years later, you found your journal, you read it, and you went, man, everything's still the same, and I haven't done a damn thing.
I heard that on the call just a few minutes ago. How many times have you done it? A lot. So, yeah, I'm a little bit upset. I'm the nicest renegade you'll ever meet, but I'm tired of the BS.
And here's what it is. Number one, here's what you need to do. You want the simple, easy way to figure this out? Here it is. Number one, become ridiculously aware of everything going on around you.
I say take everything in your life, put it up on a table like it's a big 6,000-piece jigsaw puzzle, and you don't have the picture of the box, and you got to figure stuff out because if you don't, it's going to drive you crazy.
I know it's a project we all hate to do, but you got to do it. Number one, you got to be so aware, situationally aware of what's going on. All the stuff you don't want to look at, you got to look at. We had a conversation about anxiety, anticipatory anxiety.
And he said, I guess you can't get rid of it. I said, no, you're never going to get rid of a worry. It's never going to go away. You're going to get anxious about certain things.
But what's the quick fix for that? You look at it, acknowledge it, stop it looping around in your brain, and then start working on it. Boom. Does that take time?
Yes. Sometimes it happens in a moment. Sometimes it happens in a year. That's just the way it is. What's the next step? Yes, we're going to establish some goals called the anticipation engine.
But in the middle is this thing called peaceful base. And I am blown away by this. I'm just blown away by the fact that, see, I'm a fancy guy. I got my peaceful base figured out.
I'm a guy with a podcast that speaks and writes and goes all over. I know my crap, okay? At the same time, I also don't understand something. Most of us can't remember how to tie our shoe.
We just can't. I know. I had my hip replaced two years ago. I couldn't tie my shoe for like six months. It's crazy. I think I almost forgot when I got there.
We forget the basics. Peaceful base. Financially, where do you need to be a peaceful base? Well, can I lay some common sense on you? Scott logic. Almost everything will be solved by money.
It will. Most people are like, well, if I make a million dollars, I can pay my debt off. Or they don't know how much debt they have. When you take an inventory, figure out what you owe, and you simply say, this is what I have to earn to live comfortably, not to be a rich person, but just comfortably, you've got a peaceful base.
It's not a fancy base, not a rich base, but it's a peaceful base. You can operate from there. Until then, you get a hot mess of a life, and you can't build a cool life on a hot mess. Can't do it.
How about working out? You got to stay healthy. You got to bank with your body, right? If you don't take care of your health and wellness, have a workout plan, a nutrition plan, at least something that works for you that's generally healthy, you know, 7 out of 10.
You're going to be stressing. You're going to be sick. You're going to go to the doctor. You're going to make prescriptions, things like that. I hear this all the time.
I just heard it. But what happens when you can't get yourself to move? When you've got an idea and you can't get yourself to move? April was on the call.
April's been around for a while. Hi, April. And April is a pilot. And so we kind of talked some of the same language. But she was talking about an inversion layer.
I'm not going to go into what that is. It has to do with fog and stuff, right? And so if you know an inversion layer, you can get above it, right? But on the ground, it's all foggy.
So imagine you went to the airport. You're flying an airplane. And there's fog. And maybe you can see the first 50 feet or so. But then you can't see.
But about another 50 feet beyond where you can't see, it's clear skies. Right? That's kind of what's going on here. That's kind of where most people are in this world of getting what they want in life.
And listen, I am not the smartest guy on the planet for sure, but I'm way far away from the dumbest. That's for damn sure. When you have an aversion layer, it's like this. You have an idea that you want to do, and you keep bumping your head against the layer, and you're like, how do I do this?
How do I get above it? And the answer is really simple. I've seen this a thousand times, and here it is. It just means you don't have enough information to understand what's going on on the other side of it.
You don't know how to do what you want to do. You're hanging on to what you got because you don't know what you want to do or how to do it. Does it make any sense at all that you would go after something that you don't know how to do?
and give up everything in the past, nobody's going to do that. And another person on the call said, I'm going to go out on my own, but I'm trying to figure out how to jump from a full-time job and a paycheck to that. You're not. Until you have your peaceful base established, you can just step out there.
Imagine you're flying an airplane. Now, you're not supposed to take off through the fog. You're not supposed to, unless you're instrument rated. But if you have an instrument rating like I do, what you know is that, you know, I get through the fog 50 feet, then it's clear sky, so I don't even need my rating anymore unless I want to land.
It's the same thing about getting stuff done in life and figuring stuff out. We must become aware of what we want, what's around us, what's stopping us, what's tripping us, all the bad habits, all the looking in the mirror and say, man, dummy, what'd you do that again for? We all do it, right?
We got to become aware of it. And when we're aware of it and you have somebody around like we do in our inner circle to kind of point it out a little bit gently and be your friend, and you just kind of get nudged until you point, you begin to see it. See, here's what happens. If somebody is below the inversion layer,
and they keep bumping their head in the clouds, and they can't get above it, they can't get higher than that, then I know the solution. The solution is to slowly give them information to teach them how to navigate the inversion layer and what's on the other side and how to get there. Because I also know something else.
Tell me if I'm right about this, okay? If you're stuck with something right now, and I could tell you exactly how to do it today, and you did it, and you knew it would work, and it did work. If I could do that, how fast would you dump every other piece of garbage in your life and go for it?
Like instantly. It's like having a bad job. I need to get out of this job. My boss sucks. Yeah. But it's scary to go get a new job, isn't it? What if that boss sucks?
How much am I going to make? What if it commutes different? What if I don't get my vacation time? All that comes into play, right? So you hang out with this miserable life called the bad boss.
But it's okay. It pays well. You're all right. It's too scary to go for the next thing. But all of a sudden... One day out of the blue, this headhunter calls you.
Hey, man, I've been looking for a person like you. This company wants you. You get to work remote. We're going to triple your salary. You start with eight weeks vacation.
What else you want? Whatever you want, they're going to give you. They love you, man. But you got to start Monday. How fast would you quit and start Monday?
Oh, Scott, I'm loyal. I'm not going to quit. It's going to go my permanent record. I better get two weeks notice. You're right. It just means there's not enough zeros on it.
You know it and I know it, right? You do. It's how life works. So let's reel back a little bit, okay? If you get to know me a little bit, you're going to find this is how I talk in coaching goals.
I'm talking to you right now. More and more of this podcast is getting down to this stuff. You're watching me do it every single day. I'm getting closer to the realness because I'm kind of tired of it.
I am. I'm just tired of people failing. I'm tired of people searching AI, trying to figure it out, talking to AI robots that figure out their life. Have you figured out yet that AI runs you around in circles?
that is biased toward whatever you asked it. It's like going into a medium or a psychic reader and telling it exactly all about your life before you allow it to start reading you.
No. You ever go to a psychic or a medium, what do you do? You keep your mouth shut and say, you figure it out. AI, you guys go in there, well, I won't tell you about this.
This is where I came from. This is what I want to do. This is what I'm trying to do. And AI says, okay, let me spin a story that makes you feel good. See how long I can keep you here.
Okay, I got distracted a little bit, but you see what I mean? I am so wide-eyed to this. I spend my life, I talk to so many people all over the world. I hear it again and again and again and again and again.
And I even get coaching calls and I get people I've talked to for 10 years now. And I literally say to them, 100%, six, seven. I'm sorry about that. I'm trying to talk Zoomy, you know, trying to success.
Well, that's even earlier than Zoomy. What is before Zoomy? What's the youngest generation now? I don't know what it is. There are people. I've been doing this podcast 20 years, been coaching people at scale for 20 years.
And there are people I've known for 20 years that have just soared and they're amazing in every way they've done. And the other people are amazing too, but they're still doing what they did 10, 15, 20 years ago. Same conversation, same challenge, same change, always showing up, never get it done.
That's okay. I love them and I'm going to serve them, do the best I can. give them all the grace of the world, but you think I'm going to pay any attention? No.
Why would you do that? Anyway, I, man, I'm on my pedestal today. Is it okay? This is not the most motivating show, but I tell you what, if you made it this far into the program, this is kick butt motivation.
This is come to Jesus talk. That's what all this stuff is right now. This is like you already know. When it's 2 o'clock in the morning and you've had half a bottle of wine and you're in the mirror wondering, why did I drink another half bottle of wine?
And you're looking in the mirror and you wonder who the hell you are. That's this conversation right now. Right now. And I'll be honest with you. When I work my ass off for 90 minutes and I help all kinds of people, I'm so, so happy.
I'm so thrilled. Doing what I'm born to do. Making a big difference in the world no matter who it is. I can't help them. I can't drag them along. All I can do is say, this is what I'm doing.
Let's go. Whether anybody joins my inner circle or not, I do what I do. I'm happy. It's not on me. It's on them. So I want to take this time just to do that and to not put it on you, but yes, put it right on your butt.
I see you, man. I see you in your cars. I see you at the office. I see you on your phone zooming in. I see you with your name tag on. I see you running around with the stress of life all over you.
I see it. I see the dreams getting pushed back because you don't know how to make the leap. I see that you got the kids and you're wondering, when can I get back to me?
I see that the kids have moved out and you've got all the time in the world and you still haven't gotten back to you. I see people that got retired and don't understand that, do I want to retire or not retire?
What am I going to do? I see it. And it's all about confusion. It's all about not understanding where you are. It's all about a lack of awareness. It's all about not having the ability to say, this is what I need to do.
And sometimes you get that answer in about 30 seconds and sometimes it takes a year. That's the truth. I'll die on that mountain. Huh. Trying to figure out where that mountain is.
So I'm there when I die someday. I'm living to... My mom's 94. So basically what I'm doing... Okay, she can do 94. I can do 94. She says she's going to 100.
Honestly, I don't think they make enough diapers to get her there, but we'll see what happens. I don't know. I still need diapers, although sometimes I wonder.
Honey, got to go. I'll be back. What took you so long in the bathroom? I said, do you know how old I am, honey? Leave me alone. All right, enough of that stuff.
I can get real, get practical, get right down the street, and we're going to have some freaking fun, too. So have a good weekend. I'm glad you're here. Thanks for just being me today, because why not?
I'm not AI, that's for sure. Imagine a robot like me. That'd be scary. Oh.
