How are you? Come on in here. I'm so happy you're here today. I feel pretty good. Thanks for asking. That COVID thing is no joke, is it? My wife said at least I was not a mean man.

I tend to be pretty happy and upbeat, and sometimes when I come to do this show, it's like, you know, I know sometimes I can get really practical and kind of get down to the weeds and all, but...

But at the end of the day, I know you know that I just kind of keep fighting through it. I stand up, I smile, I go do my thing. And I hope if I can pass that on to you, though, that's a good thing. Got it from my mom now, by the way.

It's nothing I came up with. So today, you know, sometimes life gets in the way. Have you noticed that? It does. Sometimes it sucks. I had a situation a couple of months ago, and it sucked.

I didn't like it. It meant something to me, and I needed to deal with it. I'll talk through that today and then give you an idea. Because I know a lot of folks...

They ran into that. I mean, you just live in your life. And then like, why'd that happen? Why'd they do this? How'd I get here? Why am I stuck? Right?

So it happens to all of us. It happened to me. And I got a call from my daughter last night. She said, I'm so proud of how you handled this thing. And I'll talk more about that in a second.

And I was so happy to have my daughter say she was proud of me. It's so cool, man. Listen, if there's somebody around you and you haven't said you're proud of them lately, would you do it?

Because everybody needs to hear it. I'm proud of you for listening to this show. I really am. If somebody's around you, I mean, even if you force yourself, just like say, I'm proud of you.

Watch what happens. So cool. Hey, Scott, good to have you. I'm so excited about this community and put it together. I know I haven't told you much about it yet.

It's being built. I'm a little afraid as well. I'm taking a big gamble here because I've done communities before. I have done memberships. I've done all kinds of things before.

Never in my life have I pretty much taken everything I know. including my time and my access and put it in a place where you could, it's just out there, right? Never have I done that. I've never done it at this level ever, but I'm going to do it.

It's kind of fun too. Anna sent me a note today. She jumped on the chat bot on my website and she sent me a note asking a question about this thing I'm going to be doing about the community.

And she was blown away because of like two minutes I responded to her and then we had a conversation going back and forth. It was awesome. I will not do that completely on the website, but once we get inside the community, you're going to have that kind of access. And that's going to be very cool stuff.

So leave it at that. Okay, it's coming. I'll tell you more about it. I know you're busy with Labor Day and everything right now, so I don't want to bother you.

So let's talk about this thing I talked about a moment ago, about when life gets in the way. When something you're doing becomes too hard to do. Listen there, I'm a fan of big hard work. I will stick with things.

I'm like a pit bull. I just latch on and that's that, okay? And if it's really, really hard, that's okay. I will go through it. I will get through the pain.

But sometimes it's hard because it is hard. And sometimes it's hard because everything else around you is making it hard. And I've been through a ton. My first wife passed away.

Trust me, that was hard. That was really, really hard. I did not want that to end. I did not want her to die. I just wanted her to get well, but I had to fight through it, right?

And there's situations like that we all go through, but I'm talking about other things. I'm talking about people in your life. I'm talking about things you're involved in.

Could be your business. Could be your church. Could be whatever you do for a hobby. Just the people around you, right? I'm talking about that stuff. So a few months ago, I got caught up in a situation.

I'm not going to say what I got caught up in because I don't like to get caught up in anything, but I felt like it was getting really hard and it didn't feel right. In fact, I won't say it felt wrong, but it was, you know, that feeling is like, this is not right, but you don't want to say it's wrong.

And I go through this stuff all the time. I coach a lot of people. I think I got a pretty good head on my shoulders. I can navigate this stuff, but man, sometimes you just get caught up in it, don't you?

And I did. Everybody around me worked really hard to convince me that I was, they wouldn't say it, but you're wrong. It's not that way, Scott. I was told I wasn't experienced enough to actually know what was going on.

I'm thinking, wait a second. I've been around this planet for a long time. I got experience in a lot of things. I kind of felt like it was right, but you've ever felt right about something and yet you still feel like, huh?

I was told I didn't know the entire story. I go along with that, too, because I've done so much coaching over the years. I understand. I never know the entire story.

Y'all lie to me. We all lie to each other. It does. But I got to tell you this. If you ever talk to me personally or maybe you get in my community, I get to know you for a few months.

I'll know your secrets. You don't even have to tell me. I'll just figure it out. But let me tell you what happened. About four happens later now. After, to their surprise, I decided just to remove myself from the situation that was kind of causing a little bit of angst, right?

I found out I was right. Well, I didn't find out I was right. I knew I was right. But it never feels right when you know you're right, does it? It just doesn't.

Again, I live and breathe this stuff. I tell people this stuff every single day. But I still am a human. I'm just like you. I don't think I'm as smart as you.

I know. I bet you. You guys are smart. I found out I was right. But boy, it didn't feel that way at all. And that happens in life a lot. And in most cases, we just have to kind of work through it, don't we?

So here's what I decided to do in this particular situation that was very complicated with many, many people involved and lots of layers and lots of corporate stuff. And it was just, listen, man, there's a reason I haven't spent a lot of time working in corporate. It's just a reason. I figured out how to navigate that a long time ago.

The best way to navigate being a corporate is don't do it. But if you got to, you got to work through it, right? But I decided to manage this. and manage those around me to see if I could do something.

See, I realized even at the time that I was not necessarily, that I was, I didn't think I was wrong, but I'm feeling wrong, right? I just wanted to quit and run because I'm a good quitter. Talk about that in a sec here.

But I didn't want to do that. I said, maybe I can impact, maybe I can affect the change. Maybe I can manage through this. Maybe I can very strategically think this through and every single choice that I make will be intentional.

My wife told me that last night. She goes, everything you've done has been intentional. You've thought it through and decided what the next step will be. And I did.

That's hard to do when you like the people you're dealing with. But it's the only way to navigate it, right? I wanted to see if I could actually get a change.

And I found out all these months later that I did. So I had a meeting last week with a principal involved in this whole thing. And it was eye-opening.

Eye-opening what he didn't know about what was going on. And I was just in a very calm, mature way, just explaining things. I didn't point fingers anywhere. I just said, okay, here's what you don't know.

But I had to wait four and a half months before he put his head up and said, can you tell me what happened? Then I started getting a couple of phone calls from other leaders and other people who had said, so what happened? I see this is, was this what happened? I said, yeah.

Huh? So they realized now they had a fire on their hands. They realize now that they were, in fact, the arsonist involved in what had happened. They started the fires and now they're running around trying to put the fire out.

But see, I was caught up in the middle of it like you are often. And again, I have a really good feeling about it. I never had any angst about this at all. I still don't to this day.

I was just very happy to help make it better because I made a choice. Sometimes that happens in life. Look, if you're alive, you're going to run into this constantly.

You can plan your life really, really well. You can do the work on yourself. And by the way, the work we do here, like what I'm talking about right now, this personal growth work, I don't know where you are with this at all. You may think, oh, man, I just put up with I can't fix it or maybe it sucks.

I want to get out of here. I don't know where you are, but I do know this. If you don't do the personal development work to know how to handle this, you're not going to get ever what you want.

You'll do better no matter what you do, but still you're going to run into this stuff. It's just going to happen. That's called life, right? So I have said many, many times that I'm a very good quitter.

I am. Seth Godin started that. He got me on being a quitter a long time ago. A lot of people think I am wrong when I say I'm a good quitter. I have had arguments about that.

And when I say arguments, I absolutely did. Not a debate, an argument. You can't quit, Scott. You can't teach people to be good quitters. They got to stick with it until they get what they want.

Well, BS. Sometimes things change. I've had clients who changed the deal on me. And got mad at me when I wanted to quit the deal. I said, wait a second.

Let's look at what you did. You broke the contract. So I'm enforcing the rules. Sorry, Bucco. I vehemently disagree. I think you should be a good quitter.

And I don't care about being a good quitter. I don't care what anybody else thinks about it. Okay, that's a lie. I do. You know I do. You do too, right?

I really do care. If I quit, I feel bad. I don't want to leave you. I don't want to stop anything. But here's the thing, man. When you get caught up in a situation that's bad for you, you've got to make a choice.

Can you manage through it like I did? And I left, by the way. I left. And I won't go back into that situation ever again. But I kept it so cool. I managed it so well that it's actually a win for everybody, including me.

But I quit. Make no mistake. They'll never get me back there. Ever. I don't quit everything. I don't. In fact, in most cases, if you ask anybody who's known me for 20 years now, doing this show for 20 years,

They say you stick around too long. Maybe I've stuck around too long with this show. I don't know. I'm really loyal. And I really believe in people. And I'll hang in there right to the very end.

But eventually, I'm going to get out of there. Hmm. It makes the situation better. So here's my question to you today. And I was a little uncomfortable doing this show today because we're coming into the summertime, we're going into the fall.

It's going to pick up again right after Labor Day. A little uncomfortable doing this because I know people don't like the quitter talk. Some people will take this as a negative thing. It's not a negative thing.

It's just a real life thing. If you were to get me on a coaching call or maybe you get in a community and we have a conversation here in the next week or two, I'm going to listen to you and you're going to be talking to me and I'm going to say, you need to get your ass out of there. But I can't, but I can't, but I can't. Well, the truth is you can.

You just need somebody to help you do it or somebody to give you a little clarity on what you're thinking, what's really going on. So look at your life today. Is there anything that is, you're just in the muck and you got to manage your way out of it, but you know in your heart that this has to come to an end.

It's inevitable. It is going to come to an end eventually. And it's just whether you take control of it or you don't. And again, I see this as a very, very positive thing.

Everybody listen to this program right now. If I were to challenge you a little bit, there is something that you have somewhere that you need. You need to get off your back.

What is it? Because as soon as you get it off your back, that monkey that's hanging on your back, you know, monkeys do when they get on your back, right? They pee on you because that's why they wear diapers, man.

Stop it. Get it off your back. Lose the weight. Figure out how to use yourself for what you really want to be doing. But it begins by letting something else go.

I'll see you tomorrow. or The Daily Boost.
